Starwood Preferred Guest - Pointless Q2 SPG promo speculation....

The thread title says it all... that's what we are good at here. The Night after Night promo runs through April, and was enhanced with additional bonuses. Does that mean no Q2 promo? Or anybody have any exciting uncited, undocumented, and totally unsubstantiated baseless speculation for what SPG will do in Q2?

Extended? Did I miss something? My spreadsheet says it was always scheduled to run from Jan 7 to Apr 30. What changed?

Nothing.

Anyway, now for some pointless speculation.

I guess that Q2 will be rolled into Q3 and Q4 and that Starwood will give each and every one of us a $3,000 hotel stimulous package to be spent at properties of our choosing subject to a few minor T&Cs. (Namely first choice on a non-vital organ of their choosing, ownership of our soul etc.)

Failing that, something that'll earn more points ;)

I reckon there will be a discount and a points bonus, something to the tune of: save $1 on each and every night, plus a bonus of 2 Starpoints for every stay of 5 nights or more!

Alternatively, a choice between double stays, double nights, double points.....it feels like it's that time of the year again.

I just opened the page of SPG.com several minutes ago, and saw the advertising as follows:

The Choice is Yours
Our biggest promotion ever assembled

From free nights and elite status to bonus StarpointsŪ and more.
With SPG You Choose, select your ideal offer from a dozen rich reward
options. Then start earning at any of our over 890 properties worldwide.

Clicked through the link, I was redirected to this page: http://spgpromos.com/choose/?IM=SPG_HP_PRIM_CHOOSE_PALOMA_anonymous

Seems that the page has not been updated. However, I will be very happy if the You Choose promo can come back during Q2. :)

Can you check into 2 different properties on the same evening? How would each property know? ;)

With the abundant help given US Plats only recently (NCAA,Clear etc etc), Starwood are planning a non US promotion for Q2.
Any US member trying to take part will get the usual message reserved for the rest of the world "Your membership number is not valid for this promotion"

A feast of delights including extra points, double stays and some mystery prizes awaits.

No, you misunderstood. Double stays and mystery prizes only. The promo will be "pointless."

You can, and they don't. For 1,000,000 Starpoints, I am sure many of us would do it.

Can you check into 2 different properties on the same evening? How would each property know? ;) Yes you can, Not sure if SPG has rules against it, but I know Marriott and Hilton will let you earn, points, stays and nights from two hotels at a time. I have done it where I Will stay at a Embassy suites for a couple of months and do a side trip for a day or two. It is not worth the hassle to check out and pack every thing for a night or two.

I think William has touched on this before and to paraphrase/ sum up his comments (I'm going by memory, I don't feel like searching for it) he asks, can you sleep in more than one room at a time? You run the risck of your account being flagged.

Troyintn, I think leumas wants to physically check into two properties in one night, which is different from your situation.

As always, check the T&C's and search here on FT.

I can't sleep in 2 rooms at a time but I sure am able to use 2 rooms in the same day (and occasionally have done so). Or does SPG require me to be in the room for 24 hours to be eligible for a night credit?

You get credited for one room as far as stays/nights are concerned; however, you can earn the Starpoints for up to three rooms as long as you are the guest of record and you personally settle the charges for all three rooms. YMMV.

Sorry I was not clear enough. Didn't mean several rooms in the same hotel.
Sometimes I have a flight like 1am-4am so I book a stay including the last night in the departure city and also pay for the same night in the destination city so I can get right to my room. So far the stays have been credited to different programs so I have no experience how SPG would treat that overlap night.

If you were ever questioned about such a situation, I'm sure it would not be a problem if you explained it like this, although if it resulted from a missing stay request, I also would expect Program Services to ask you to send them a folio for the stays. YMMV.

FYI: It is a bit unclear right now, but it appears that Marriott is running some form of Stay 2 nights get 1 Free for Marriott Rewards members starting on May 1.

The promotion is bare bones and does not state what properties qualify for the cert, nor when the cert could be used or even what are the properties where the cert can be redeemed.

However, I hope this is a harbinger of things to come among all the frequency programs!
