Just scored the Caribe Hilton in san juan on priceline for $95 a night. I hear that parking is $15 a night and that the food is outrageous. Any tips on cheaper parking in the area or restaurants that are not insane.

MisterNice Mar 16, 09, 2:00 pm There is some street parking but not for long periods of time unless you want to take a chance with a ticket or towing. There are 2 local restaurants on the main street equivalent to a scruffy Dennys or lesser. Nearest medium level restaurants are at least 1/2 mile away. MisterNice Mrp Alert Mar 17, 09, 2:40 am If you are going to use your car more than 1x a day, valet @ $20. The regular parking is a hike from the main tower, but close to the villas. I do not recommend walking from the hotel except across the bay to the resorts there. iahphx Mar 17, 09, 9:51 am You pretty much have to pay the parking here or do without a car. It depends on your sightseeing preferences. I think they have an onsite car rental office, which might help, but you may find the prices cheaper at the airport, which would negate the savings of not just parking the vehicle. FWIW, I always rent at the airport and pay the parking fee. Go to hotwire to comparison shop -- last time, they were considerably cheaper than the published rates. As to food, there is a Subway 2 blocks from the hotel. I've occasionally gotten sandwiches and pizza there for lunch. |
