recently got a letter from klm saying my airmiles (130,000) expire in april after 20 months without a paid flight with them and i wont be flying again till march next year .
so the question is can i use them for a flight for a friend or transfer them to his ff account,
if not it looks like a w/e in amsterdam from aberdeen before april to save them:eek:

Yes, you can book an award ticket for your friend.
transfer them to his ff account,
No, miles cannot be transferred.
Noticed with my miles they did not bother sending me a letter (nor any statements for a long time) and due health I was not flying.. :(

A friend got a letter from FB saying that her miles will expire in April 09. She called up FD helpdesk on the 28th of April to cash them in but was told that they had expired on April the 3rd!
Even though she got the letter from FB after the 3rd and no where on the letter does it say any particular date in April that they will expire at.
Now has she lost the 60,000 miles? Or is it worth sending a email to FB? The agent was quite adamant that she could not do anything.

A similar situation happened to my sister, whose 140K miles expired. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them reinstated? I'm not familiar with this program so any help would be appreciated. I did some searches here in this forum, but didn't find a clear suggestion for this situation. Thanks for your assistance!...
Just realized this went into the KLM forum. I'm asking about Air France miles. Will repost my question there. Moderator, feel free to delete this post.

If you have that many miles why not make a quick mileage run...

OR trade miles with FlyerTalkers in need!
Can always post on Coupon Connection and offer some form of exchange.
Whatever you do, DO NOT let your miles expire!
Give them away if you have to! (I'll take 10k pronto, pretty pretty please...)

Hello - I just realized my miles expired as well. Were you able to reinstate them? If so, please advice how!
thx
not sure what the policy is.
I didn't get a letter, online the system said my miles would expire jan '10 so 30 dec '09 or so I used them up. Still have a few 1000 left. They still show up in my account (and I cannot find an expiry date).

How long after your last paid flight do they typically expire? I have an AF return trip on a RT ticket slated for early Aug. then I probably won't be on another AF flight until next May or June. Will my miles me safely waiting for me?

Just when I thought Flying Blue could not get any worse...
Logged into account for first time since last April and see the balance is negative several thousand. Call Flying Blue, they have no idea why. They will need 10 business days to look into it and will mail out a letter with the result adding in another week or two just for them to tell me the account balance is now "0". Guess they are doing everything possible to keep the paper pushers employed.
Once all of the "exeptions" were made to allow the use of the remaining miles which were deleted 1 April 2009, instead of 30 April 2009, somebody obviously made an error and not only deleted the remaining 15,000 miles in the account but took another 7,000 for good measure.
Was just trying to transfer points in to get a free KQ ticket as tickets within Africa are only 25,000 miles with about 40 euros in tax and the regular price is well over 1200 euros. Now I don't know if it is even worth the hassle.
