Air New Zealand Air Points - Upgrade with UA points ?

I am sure this as been asked a hundred time and I could not find it in the Ultimate Thread !
Can I book a economy ticket (International) with ANZ and use my Mileage Plus points to Upgrade to Business class, like you do on UA planes ? If so, how many points will I need ?
I am looking at - BNE > AKL > SFO > DEN and return in January 2010.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me please. :confused:

I believe that UA has not agreed to be part of the *A upgrade benefit so you are not able to use your UA Mileage Plus points.
Depending on you UA status you may get access to Space+ seats on the BNE-AKL leg.

No, it is not possible to upgrade on NZ using United miles. Besides United itself, UA miles can only be used to upgrade on Lufthansa.
