What is the most miles you got or could get from the current Fly 2/Free 1 promo especially if coupled with other promos?

Zero, if not coupled! The Fly 2/Free 1 promos don't get you any miles (other than the normal for flying), the Free is a highly-restricted unupgradeable unreturnable coach award. Thus you only get whatever miles you get for flying the qualifying flights, so I don't see how this question is really specific to this promo.

This is not a good promo if what you want is miles (say, for upgrades, or for awards in the far future). It is mostly a good promo if you were going to fly at least some of those qualifying flights anyway (on some airline) and you're short (so you find the coach "to anywhere" seat reasonably comfortable) and you're flexible (so you can actually redeem your award for SOMETHING despite high capacity controls).

I meant when you are going for this Fly2 promo to get your one free --are you able to benefit from getting extra miles also. Saw one posting on Frequentflier to combine it with the AA FLY04 promo where you could get triple or double miles in future or extra 5,000 miles.

Yes you can get 'extra' miles if you combine it with the 3x/2x/5000 promo. You just have to stay out of the deep discount tickets, on AA class L and N (and what ever on the other airlines fare code). If you fly before you get to the 10,000 miles qualification then any fare does it but it don't earn you extra miles. But if you fly after the 10,000 miles qualification and fly on a non-L/N fares, it will earn you extra miles. Now, is it worth the extra cost for the higher fares..? It all depends where you want to use the ticket to and when you want to fly. There were fares for $155.20 (with tax) from LGA to most Floriday cities and doing two tickets it was a mear $310.40. Then get a free ticket to Europe in the summer, it's worth every minute on those planes. Or say Japan.

Since you are in CA, then a trip to NY would count as on and a trip to FL would be the other. Just leave yourself plenty of time for possible delays or canx. I'm not sure if you can get the $226.00 fare to JFK but for under $450 you could have a free ticket. As Stefan painted a DOOMSDAY on getting seats, if you're flexiable you can get anywhere you wish on free tickets. We've just booked last week, six planhead rewards (35,000 miles) tickets to Hawaii for March (spring break), 4 from DFW, 2 from LAX and 2 from MSP. Except for 2 that have to leave 1 day early, we're all going to be together for 6 days. The six of us could not all get out of LAX on the same flight, but we arrive within an hour of each from the 2 different cities. We were a bit flexable and we're in Hawaii in two months! Don't let the naw sayers put your plans in the toilet because it can be done.
Now if you wait untill the very end of the promo to do your flights, well you may find that everyone else is doing it also and you can't get good fares. Plus then you find that all 20,000 (that's the last number I head had registered for this promo) AA frequently flyers are trying to 'cashin' their tickets. But there will be 4 less then 20,000 since we just completed our two RT this past weekend and I hope by end of February to have my vouchers so I can plan a mid summer trip to Europe.
