Yes, I know, where in the world is RUN? And who is UU? Anyway, twice weekly flight operated by Air Austral from Reunion to Sydney and on to Noumea on a 772. So an interesting stopover option when going to Europe.

Also good if you want to experience a prehistoric business class,

I don't know much about Air Austral (other than saw a couple of their a/c in MRU), but aren't they the ones with an order for A380 in 800+ all Y config?

Is this to deal with package tourists from Metropolitan France, or to be offered to charter operators offering flights for the Hadj?

800+ really does sound like a flying flee pit. :(

Wikipedia certainly agrees with you in the config however:

I wonder if they'll offer competitive fares ex NOU or ex SYD for Paris and Africa?

Why should it be any worse than any other aircraft configured in an all economy layout? Being a brand new aeroplane, I can't see why it should be a "flea pit"

As an aside, I am still wondering how Air Austral has anything to do with Qantas and the QF FF scheme

Nothing, but similarly we recently had a topic about the relative price of duty free Champagne... all makes for interesting reading.

Too much human flesh in too confined a space. Don't know about you and your tolerance of large groups of people, but I think I would find that hell :)

A suggestion was made to move this to the regional forum. I concur.

The thought of Y seems a more than a bit scary to me but if I recall correctly, when I checked a few weeks ago, they had some good higher class fares to RUN. Add in accessibility to Africa and the fact that it seems a very interesting and unusual destination for a tropical francophile. It is worth looking into I think.

Yes, I know, where in the world is RUN? RUN = Réunion (or La Réunion), a French DOM (département d’outre-mer, or oversease département) in the Indian Ocean, about 150 mile south-west of Madagascar. This makes it part of France in the same way that the metropolitan (mainland) départements are, and so Réunion is part of the European Union as well.

It is said to be very beautiful...

Speaking of OT, what the heck does "OOT" mean? I even googled it to no avail
http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/OOT - any of these? I'm curious.

I suspect "off off topic". One stage closer to FT purgatory than merely OT. ;)
