I'll be flying LAX-HKG-SYD-HKG-KUL-HGK-LAX later this month all in economy. The hardest part of this upcoming trip will be the LAX-HKG-SYD segments as they are back to back. I've always flown business on CX, but with the recent cutbacks in our company travel, we are only allowed to fly economy now, irrespective of the length of the flight.

I was wondering if anyone out there was willing to trade their CX upgrades for the AA eVIP upgrades that I have. I leave on the evening of March 15.

CX does not have upgrade coupons in the sense of AA eVIPs. You can upgrade from some fares (YBHK) using AsiaMiles, but you need to be in the Mileage Holder's redemption group.

Can someone in the CX Asia Miles program upgrade anyone else besides themselves? For example, if you had the miles, and you were willing to upgrade me, is that even doable? For AA eVIP's, I typically just call in American Airlines, give them the traveler's record locator, and tell them to take the upgrade credit out of my account. I don't necessarily have to be traveling with that person.

Yes, but the person to be upgraded needs to be on the member's "Redemption List" which can contain a maximum of 5 people at any one time, and once full there is a charge every time you change a name.

But once you are on the list then yes the member can call AsiaMiles/MarcoPolo and arrange the upgrade assuming you have a ticket in an upgradeable class (YBHK). The member does not have to be travelling with you.

This is not the place for trading FFP benefits. It should be done at Coupon Connection, which everyone can access except the OP as he has not enough posts. So this thread is to close.

On a note, eVIPs are never in the same league as asiamiles as you get the former for free for being a Exec Plat member which MPC DM members do not. If one would ever want to trade asiamiles it has to be with their miles.

Anyway, another place, another time.
