Travel Technology - Buying a portable/usb Turntable in Asia?

Don't know much about this but researching for a friend....

Looking to buy a turntable to play vinyls that can also then plug into a computer and convert the music to MP3.

What are the good brands out there? Anyone bought one out in HK or Singapore?

I had the one made by Ion--it was about as good as you could expect a $100 turntable to be. Audio-Technica makes another.

Stanton has a higher-quality one that goes for around $300.
