Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - First time flying non-CX transpacific flight

Non CX related but I thought I'd share this with everyone since I have been flying exclusively CX for the last 4 yrs 3-4 times a year with last time being Feb.

Anyways, there is something seriously wrong with the booking system and/or the economy.... I booked a LAX-TPE direct flight for next month, cost is $150 one way. I couldn't believe my eyes... Total including taxes $427 USD r/t. On top of that, these are weekend outbound/inbound flights.

And, it doesn't stop there.... Summer Fares $150 each way. "Book business, OP UP upgrade to F", LAX-KUL $185 each way.

If it were a $100-200 difference, I still fly CX. But, its a $500-600 difference! What is the world coming to these days....

It's Malaysia Airlines; but it should be "Book C, Travel in F" -- similar to the LHR promo that CX is doing right now.

The Y promo is $185 each way to either ex-JFK or LAX to KUL.

Sales period only till 11 Mar.

Whats strange .... TPE-LAX-TPE is around $600 USD incl. tax, but LAX-TPE-LAX is the only one that is $427 incl tax. Well, small chance my ticket will be cancelled, just maybe.

Not sure if it applies on all flights, the site says to call... Anyways their J is around $3k.

Yeah, saw that as well. It's been out there for a couple of months, at least. We almost did the same deal, which includes 34" pitch in coach. They don't fly every day of the week from LAX.

Their discount C and F fares are really reasonable as well.

As much as I want to leave this thread alone, it doesn't really have to do much with CX (other than Op mentioning it).
