Weds night when I was looking online I priced out a LAX-HNL(Stopover) HNL-SYD (Stopover) Syd-LAx all for under $500. Of course today when I confirmed plans it was over $1500 which I am sure is the regualr fare. Do you think Hawaiian would have let me fly on that fare or would they have cancelled the ticket.

Never wait to book a deal that looks too good to be true. Book and cancel within 24 hrs if it turns out you can't go. All airlines must allow cancellation within 24 hrs of booking, it's an IATA rule.

Can't say I've ever heard of HA having a bookable mistake fare so I don't think there's much precedent.

I don't think this is correct. AA, for example, does not do this. They will often allow cancellation or change of a booking made at AA.com within a half-hour or so, but beyond that you are into standard cancellation/change fees.

While I don't know about other airlines, the fact that there is a major exception to a "global" rule suggests that there may be others.

Oops! I corrected my message.. it was from OGG, not HNL. And yes, it was chilly and very rainy in SEA (floods!)

And, in fact, I can think of one instance where the AA website confirmed a booking different from what I had seen before I purchased, I called them immediately upon getting the inaccurate confirmation, within a half hour of the booking, and it was a real struggle to get them to cancel the reservation without a penalty so that I could rebook it.
