MilesBuzz! - Can NWA standard miles EVER be used????

I have been accumulating NWA frequent flyer miles for several years and finally have (I thought) enough miles (68,000+)to use them. I have tried several times to make online reservations at the World Perks site and I have never seen standard miles available. What should be a 20,000 mile ticket is always 100,000 mile ticket or worse! Before I make the decision to never fly NWA again because I got hosed, can anyone tell me what the deal is? This is very frustrating.

Conversely, I am a member of Hilton Honors which has been an absolute pleasure. I have stayed in some very nice Hiltons for free and have even been able stay in Hiltons for the price of a Hampton using Point Stretchers. Is the NWA program virtually worthless? My vote right now is that it is!

You should take this over to the NW forum. We can give you plenty of tips. I have no problem using my miles with a little planning.

Make sure that you are not violating the most basic rule... you must have a saturday night stay.

Welcome to Flyertalk, dspindler!

I'm going to take doglover up on his offer --

I'm going to move this thread to the Northwest Airlines forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Northwest&number=35&DaysPrune=5&LastLogin=) where I bet you'll get help redeeming Northwest miles. That's probably the best place for specific discussion of the Worldperks program (rather than more general discussion, or discussion that cuts across program lines, that tends to take place here in MilesBuzz).

Please continue to follow this question in the Northwest Airlines forum.
