Hi all,

I'm a n00b asiana flyer and got some questions.

I'm doing a rather laborious money saving itinerary to get to Shanghai from FUK.

Leaving on OZ131 connecting to the evening CZ373 to Shanghai from ICN.

Similar deal on the way back.

I have some questions..

1) Do Asiana and China Southern have an interlining agreement or if i'm forced to recheck baggage how laborious is the recheck process (I've got plenty of time so not worried about that). Just wondered how laborious going in and out of Korean customs was. (This is assuming I'm forced to check)

2) What is Asiana's and China Southern's hand baggage policy?
I'm planning travelling with back pack + small rollerboard because of the amount of travelling. Will I get away with that?

3) How does one kill time in ICN when you don't have status ?

Craig

PS Why are FUK -> PVG direct flights so ridiculously expensive ? :/

Firstly, welcome to the OZ forum. Now to your questions:

1) Do Asiana and China Southern have an interlining agreement or if i'm forced to recheck baggage how laborious is the recheck process (I've got plenty of time so not worried about that). Just wondered how laborious going in and out of Korean customs was. (This is assuming I'm forced to check) /

AFAIK they do interline. Just make sure that you have both tickets ready at checkin and that the PNRs are linked in the system.
In case they do not interline, immigration can take a while. But luggage and customs are very quick and so will be the check-in. Depending on your time the flight might not be open for checkin however.

2) What is Asiana's and China Southern's hand baggage policy?

So technically you are over the limit, but chances are you will get away with it. Just note, this is not the US so having your entire household in your carry on will not work.

3) How does one kill time in ICN when you don't have status ? /

ICN is a great airport with tons of facilities. Depending on your time you can even take a tour through Seoul.

Absolutely no idea. Maybe just not that much competition. There are also connecting flights into SHA, maybe worth having a look at.
