hello, i am looking to fly from PER-AKL-PER next month in J (first time on Air New Zealand, normally fly with QF). I understand the Boeing 767s are being updated with new seating, IFE, etc - does anyone know if this has been completed and what are the chances of an updated config on this route? thanks for your help

yes

in business class the seat is little changed from what it used to be (actually slightly narrower than it used to be), however IFE is much improved and much better than QF (except maybe QF A380)

enjoy your flights

I fly it a couple times a year in J.

As kiwiflyer said the seat is slightly narrower than it used to be but the IFE screen is quite large and user friendly!

All the 767's have the new layout so you will defintley get the new IFE.

It's always a pretty good flight and always good food and plenty of alcohol available :D

That flight is legendary for the amount of alcohol consumed on it.

It is indeed. I haven't done it for a while, and certainly not since the new seating went in, but I have fond memories of both AKL - PER, and even the over night return, which is also not too bad in the food and grog department if one is on PER time.

thanks for the info, sounds like it will be a fun flight!
on a separate matter, can you normally see NZ flights on checkmytrip.com? I can't seem to locate my booking on that site ...

I'm flying PER/AKL later this year on BMI award and it shows up on checkmytrip. NZ seating plans don't show on checkmytrip but I don't know why your booking wouldn't show.

It depends on who you booked the flights with, and which other airlines feature on the same ticket.

Short answer: if you have only NZ operated flights, booked/ticketed through NZ = flights don't show on checkmytrip.

Air NZ has it's own CRS thus bookings do not show anywhere other than on NZ website. However if your ticket includes other airlines you may see the NZ flights as information segments through checkmytrip, viewtrip, etc depending on the other airline in question.

I take it that's its the Perth / WA pax that keep up the good reputation of the flight in this regard...

Hello, I have a few questions about the PER-AKL flight in biz class.

I read an old thread on FT that NZ use the Qantas Club in PER but the ANZ website suggests they have their own lounge in PER (which I found surprising given they only have 6x weekly flights). So which lounge do NZ use in PER?

Also are there any amenity kits handed out in biz class on the overight flight?

And what are the biz class seats on the 767 like for sleeping? I'm generally not very good at sleeping on planes even in BP but I always give it a go!

Hello, I have a few questions about the PER-AKL flight in biz class.Did this recently, see my uncomplimentary comments about the seating on this page and the previous one:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-new-zealand-air-points/25056-new-ultimate-seating-thread-version-deux-32.html
To be fair to it's a problem on all 763's to squeeze six biz class seats across the narrow cabin, there's room only for the width of Y seats.

As for sleeping, not much time for that, a fierce tailwind is common which brings you in to AKL between midnight and 1am Perth time.

And yes they use the Qantas lounge in PER, and yes there's an amenity kit and no there wasn't much of a party on board thank heavens even though it was a Friday night.

Edit - Of course the NZ service was exemplary as always.

Thanks. Luckily I'm not built like a rugby player so the width won't be a problem. I guess width wise its no different than the Delta biz elite seats on the 767 which is 2-2-2 which I fit into without too much issue.

I've tried the NZ A320 biz seat and that was quite hard so I'm expecting the same on the 767. I certainly wouldn't like to be on the 767 from NRT-AKL.

Good news on the QF lounge as I've never tried one of their lounges before being a *A loyalist. Hopefully there isn't a fierce tail wind as that would make my 4 hour connection in AKL even longer!

All the 767's have been refurbished with the new interiors.
Bottoms up!
