Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - ABU Dhabi layover

Hi All

The airport hotel in Abu Dhabi is booked out and I need a good suggestion of a hotel close to the airport. I have a 10 hr layover before my long flight to sydney and need to get my head down for a few hours. I am travelling ibn pearl class but i presume the new terminal 3 lounge has no rooms for sleeping unless you are in Diamond class.

I've used Al Raha Beach Hotel, which is closest, when the airport hotel was full. It is isolated, rather uninteresting and I think there is a lot of nearby construction these days. It only adds around half an hour to the taxi ride to find a better choice of hotels in Abu Dhabi itself. I'd be interested to know if you can get Etihad Limo service in Abu Dhabi for a stop over with a Pearl booking.

Could someone kindly provide a website URL for the AUH airport hotel? I have not been able to find one. Can one book online? (I assume I can discover that when I access the website).

I am also wondering about limo service when doing a stop over... I have about 8 hours and would like to see the country a little - so going to Dubai and back would be nice. THough, I wouldnt mind the bus... - but the info there is - complementary bus for economy pax...

Well, if not Dubai, what to do in Abudabi - can one just walk around or take the local bus to downtown?

Dubai and back in a short layover is chancing it a bit. It's 40 minutes at 100 mph in a taxi from the airport to the southern end of Dubai. But could be another hour in traffic further north to see to Burj Dubai and other sights. I don't have any suggestions for Abu Dhabi sightseeing. Perhaps afternon tea at Emirates Palace Hotel?

You can do a search here to find a bit of information about Abu Dhabi. You can walk around the city center (have the taxi drop you off around the Crowne Plaza hotel), but there isn't much to do. You could go to the Abu Dhabi mall to kill time.
