Korean Air Skypass - NRT-ICN on KE in J, connecting to ICN-SFO on SQ, also in J

Folks,

For some reason, my itinerary shows the baggage allowance NRT-ICN on KE limited to 30kg, whereas the ICN-SFO SQ flight in J gets the piece system. The ticket appears to be issued by KE, and further appears to have only one ticket number, so why would there be a difference? Wouldn't I get the piece system for the entire journey?

I called KE in Tokyo to try and get some answers, and after some initial confusion, they told me I would get the piece system from check-in at NRT. I do worry that language and cultural barriers may have encouraged them to agree that the piece system would apply (because that was understood to be my hope) instead of actually giving me a straight, clear, and definitive answer.

What's the story here?

Also, what is KE like with respect to baggage allowances in J? Will it be strict? Will it not allow any overages? If it will, will it charge through the nose for same? What would the fee be for excess or for a third bag at NRT?

Can I expect KE to weigh and measure my carry-ons?

I don't know what KE and SQ might be like on these routes with my bags. The last time I flew on an Asian carrier in J (on NH), I had a "helpful" NH agent at ORD page me prior to departure for NRT to pay an extra $100-odd dollars for a third bag in the hold that AA had checked-in at no extra cost to me at my initial point of departure. That was annoying.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Maclock

If its all issued on ONE ticket, then the piece system applies to your entire ticket. It doesn't matter what the ticket says.

Thank you for your reply, GB.

I hope that the information on my itinerary is correct and is not deficient in any way.
