Yes. I read the FAQ Sticky. I'm looking for couples-related thoughts,

Have a segment as part of an AONEX booked BKK-HKG CX702. Right now it is showing as a 77A and hopefully this doesn't change. It is a "day" flight - though very late in the evening - so no sleeping on the short flight. Neither of us have flown CX, let alone CX F, let alone their new seat. We'll be in 1A/1K on a later segment in the 74A.

So, what's the best seat for a couple? I get the impression that you're so enclosed in your seat that there is really no point to us being across from each other in the D/K seats as we won't be able to see each other or talk anyway. Am I correct about that? So, why not try to have it so we both have windows. I was therefore thinking 1A and 2A because we then have our own aisle... but the FAQ suggests the crew uses this aisle a lot. Is it that bad? With a day flight it could just mean more attentive service, no worry about disrupting sleep. 1K and 2K is another choice. Less FA traffic but more Pax traffic.

Right now, however, we're in 1A and 1K because I was told over the phone that 2A and 2K are bassinet and cannot be booked ahead of time and I would have to ask at the airport. I figure 1A and 1K gets us windows, and I can move one of us from 1A to 2K or from 1K to 2A at the airport if available.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.

There is a solid one metre high partition between A and D seats..so the Best are actually 2D and 2K, but as you are aware 2K is held for Babies. So the only real advance bookable suggestion is 1D and 1K. At least you can see each other and talk somewhat remotely. Of course all seats have a companion seat for dining facility.

If you both are looking for Window seats then the 1A and 2A has less FA Traffic to the Forward Galley.

Our preference is for 1A/2A - that way you have the whole left side of the cabin to yourselves - the only traffic in the aisle is when one of you wants something.

Our experience is that most of the crew traffic is staff passing back-and-forth between J & F, not FAs actually serving the F cabin. From 2D & 2K, and I'd guess 1D and 1K, you can kind of see the other person if you crane your neck...but too far to have a conversation.

Would generally agree with 1A and 2A as the best seats for a couple. You'd have to stand and turn around to see each other, but as has been mentioned, can use the ottoman to dine together.

It's a 2 hour flight. A 270 word post is overthinking it, IMHO.

Oh, but give the OP a little leeway.;) Much has been written about the spectactular new CX Suites, and s/he's probably very excited about them. When they were first introduced, there were dozens of posts here by people trying to figure out which routes had them so that they could book the flights and try them. I know that for myself, planning all the little details of my RTW trips is a blast. (Note, I travel only for pleasure, my career does not require travel.)

First of all, thanks everyone for the replies.

HA! It's like you know me. That's just what I do, overthink things. :D Besides, as noted below and any FTer should appreciate, planning and overthinking the whole thing is half the fun.

I too only travel for pleasure, and certainly want to make the most of a RTW honeymoon in F. But, it is a short flight and we'll get to experience 1A/K on a 74A for HKG-SFO later in the trip. The BKK-HKG leg is no big deal.

I was mainly looking for feedback on the D seats. If the suites are so isolated that D/K cannot easily communicate, then we might as well be sitting in 1A and 1K so we each have a window since we can't talk any easier between 1A and 1K than we can between 1D and 1K. There is just some conflicting information about how isolated the seats are prohibiting communication between seats.

In that event, go with the christep approach and take 1A and 2A. As he said, you'll have the whole side of the plane to yourselves. They may try to talk you out of 2A because it is a designated bassinet seat, but keep it anyway. You'll only be tossed out of it if there is a need for bassinet, which is rare.

1A & 2A are indeed slightly better because you have the whole left side just for you (seats D open on the right side). But my advise is to take any two seats. then join your wife for a drink by sitting next to her (not facing her) using the width of the CX suite If both of you are slim enough this is a loving arrangement and I have done it a few times. Then get back to your own seat and enjoy the meal and the suite.

I appreciate the thought and advice, but I'm guessing 6'7" and 225lb is not "slim enough" :D

Is that you or your wife? :)
I'm 6'3" and 250lb and my wife is 5'4" 130lb and it's do-able, for us.

The regional flights are prone to last minute "different aircraft" substitutions. Meaning a 77A can be swapped to a regional 772 or 773. So as a reminder don't get too excited. ;)

:D Nearly spit out my coffee!

And note -- being on an AONEx fare you are not entitled to any compensation if you are downgraded to J. If it is a last-minute equipment swap, you may get lucky, but if it is an advance schedule change, IME you will be out of luck.
