I often take the last flight of the day to my destinations which means after delays some times I don't make it to my hotel until after 1 or 2 am. At that time, they are usually unable to check me in on the computer and they just take my info and give me a key.
When my folio comes at check out I usually 1 day less than my stay, but I never knew what to do about it.
A couple weeks ago I checked into a Hampton Inn at 2 am. I checked in for 3 days and that what what my reservation was for. I did not get a folio on the 3rd day so I went to the desk and checked out and got a folio charging me for 2 days. Usually I take this original folio and bill it, but I was feeling lazy and pulled it up online instead of fishing it out of my papers. I noticed online I had a charge for 3 days (which is technically correct, I did stay 3 nights).
This has happened to me 4 times. I just thought they didn't bill for nights starting after 2 am. Now I bet I was probably charged for all my nights each time, but only expensed the -1 night folio.
I guess my point is that I know the folio issued at check out (or especially the ones slid under your door) are subject to change if additional charges are incurred, but I never thought they would tack on over $100 and not notify me.
