Rates with Budget especially thru Costco are unbelievably good for ONLY a Standard size car. (maybe a fat finger fudge?) Look for yourself :eek:

Made 4 rental car bookings yesterday. 3 at KOA, less than 1/2 price.

On Costco/rental cars/Budget; I chose "Upgrade + $15 off"
There's no special codes to enter except the one that Costco enters for you. I think it works for all dates more than a few weeks out (Start Rental 16 Mar '09 or later, last checked 28 Feb '09) as long as it's KOA, The big Island, Hawaii. Others might post if they notice other airport locations with a similar unusually low price for Standard cars with much higher prices for the other car type choices.

One of my bookings;
KOA for 23 May - 7 Jun '09 (15 days), 8:00pm -8:00pm
Deal is over as of 9:10 pm CST, 5 Mar '09 :mad:
Got Standard car upgraded to full size for $297.37 all in 15 days.
Compare to Costco/Budget current price/full size $607.92 all in, same 15 days.

That's interesting though I'm not too fussed about the rate but am interested in the upgrade coupon.

I've actually got a booking at KOA coming up (company booked as a group, so not sure about the rate). I was wondering whether I could present them with this upgrade coupon (on the page you used it says to print the page for the upgrade coupon) or whether I would need to have made my booking with the Costco BCD to start with. If that's the case, do you know any other place I could print off a coupon for an upgrade?

You might tell your travel leader to cancel any existng rental car reservations and book new resevations at this price. When you book through Costco --$50 membership fee and it can be handled online. You book the car rental on-line or by phone (but don't attract attention to the low price). There is a Costco Center 3 mi from the airport in KOA. Their gas is $.20/gal lower than the next lowest on the Island. You are supposed to use that printed page (online) as a coupon for the upgrade and $15 off if used before 30 Jun '09. When I booked a Costso/Budget car used in Sep '08 for OGG, Maui, HI, I called and reconfirmed the upgrade and price 6 hours before pickup. They already had it correct. Everything went smoothly at check-in. They didn't ask for a coupon or a Costco card.
If you don't want to chance the Costco discount without a card, They seem to have the same discount at United or NorthWest Airlines right now (extra miles/no upgrade). Costco, NWA, and United have there own BCD #s and Coupon #s. (interesting trick, if you need to add a coupon # on-line to an existing resevation -- just do it, no problem) The important thing is to get the good price before they notice and get the prices back in line with the other types of cars on their own website.
