Hawaii-based Airlines - Mokulele brings back coupon books; HA/go! match w/their own fixed-price-per-segmentJEFFKT Feb 24, 09, 1:42 pm Mokulele announced they are bringing back coupon books for interisland travel. KeaauFlyer Feb 24, 09, 3:07 pm Cool! Now if they'll hurry up and start flying to ITO! Yes, ITO please! But will anyone honor the unused coupons if, heaven forbid, they go under or get taken over? slippahs Feb 24, 09, 4:03 pm But what will be the cost of the coupons? If they're no cheaper than a nonrestricted fare, then they won't be of much value... finlandia Feb 24, 09, 7:59 pm It's the return of the MidPac coupon books! I think my folks still have one someplace. Cash up front, that's what it's all about. JEFFKT Feb 24, 09, 8:54 pm But what will be the cost of the coupons? If they're no cheaper than a nonrestricted fare, then they won't be of much value... Bill Boyer says about $44 o/w for each coupon, the booklet will be in groups of five so I'm assuming $220 for a booklet. Interesting... No money up front. Just have to register. Just to clarify, it's $43 per segment up to 40 tickets, rather than a requirement that one need book 40 one-way segments... This might be perfect for anyone flying on the mid-day flights where HA routinely offers only the highest fare classes knowing very well that pax from the Mainland need these flights to connect. HeleFlyer Feb 24, 09, 11:46 pm they really don't like Mokulele, do they? Do you earn regular mileage on HA's X fare? slippahs Feb 24, 09, 11:51 pm Do you earn regular mileage on HA's X fare? Yes and the X fare also qualifies for mileage to partner airlines (NW, CO, DL, UA, AA etc). beckoa Feb 25, 09, 3:14 am Interesting... No money up front. Just have to register. MW's booklet is A/I $44 a segment- right? HA has a nice astrick next to the $43* price... and in the fine print: Additional cost of $3.60 ZP tax per segment and a $2.50 per enplanement September 11th Security Fee (not to exceed $10) will be applied to each ticket purchase. Interesting... Its cool to see these coupons make a resurgence... now if AS would sell them ANC-SEA :p And an interesting way for MW to raise $$$ slippahs Feb 25, 09, 3:23 am More info on Mokulele coupons: http://www.mokuleleairlines.com/LikikiLele.html slippahs Feb 25, 09, 3:04 pm More info on Mokulele coupons: http://www.mokuleleairlines.com/LikikiLele.html Interesting language on this page: "[The coupons are] applicable on any scheduled Mokulele-marketed and -operated flight." Aren't the E-Jet flights operated by Republic? HeleFlyer Feb 25, 09, 3:22 pm its the attorney's way of saying "these aren't valid on go! It would've been smarter just to say that then. To put in an exclusion of non-operated Mokulele flights raises an ambiguity, since indeed Republic does operate all E-Jet flights. holocker Feb 25, 09, 11:48 pm Also on Hawaiians website it says valid for nonstop flights, so does that mean you will need 2 to fly between other islands besides Honolulu? lpy Feb 26, 09, 12:03 am and not to be outdone, HA has a different program. https://apps.hawaiianair.com/SE/Default.aspx Book 40 one-way segments for $43.00 each, plus tax, travel completed by May 15th. Maybe off the topic to this thread: but can I book, say for three people including myself, under HA's program? Or one can only book it for oneself? slippahs Feb 26, 09, 12:27 am Also on Hawaiians website it says valid for nonstop flights, so does that mean you will need 2 to fly between other islands besides Honolulu? Yes... Like Mokulele's coupon program, you need two "coupons" (whether under Hawaiian or Mokulele's coupon program) to fly an itinerary consisting of two flight segments, e.g., ITO-HNL-LIH. It's priced the same way if you were to just book it without using coupons. BTW: For those interested in purchasing the coupon books, the coupons aren't actually available till March 2nd. So one must wait till then to book flights. Ripper3785 Feb 27, 09, 12:11 pm Maybe off the topic to this thread: but can I book, say for three people including myself, under HA's program? You can use it to book flights for yourself or anyone else you choose. I waited until exactly 12:01 a.m. HST today to book the inter-island flight that I truly wanted (there were other options but they involved long layovers). Up until midnight Sunday night, the flight I wanted was showing $154 in coach; at 12:01 a.m. it was $43 -- and it was the last seat on the plane. KeaauFlyer Mar 2, 09, 8:28 pm I had a similar experience to cblaisd, only the non-sale fare was $228! Mine was also the last seat showing on the map. Too bad I booked another itinerary for during the sale period for $167 a week before the promotion was announced. Would it be worth it to pay a change fee and use that $167 later in the year? cblaisd Mar 2, 09, 11:32 pm Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20) I had a similar experience to cblaisd, only the non-sale fare was $228! The $30 per segment change fee would eat all but $10 of the savings, so I'll just leave it. cblaisd Mar 3, 09, 8:38 pm go! has now matched HA's deal mr.brodie Mar 4, 09, 12:53 am http://www.iflygo.com/default.aspx slippahs Mar 4, 09, 1:15 am http://www.iflygo.com/default.aspx Tickets purchased via go! reservations are subject to a $5 fee. It's right on that page. -David HeleFlyer Mar 7, 09, 7:38 am A buddy at Cape Air said that the Moku guy putting this together spent a lot of time with him - and it sounds like they emmulated the Cape Air books, because that is also a requirement they throw on theirs. It reduces fraud because the commuter books with Cape Air have their payment/receipt page on front that proves its been paid for. Do the Mokulele ones have that? Cape also said that Moku put some advertisements and had a very pretty collage on the back - do they look good? |
