Today I called OZ reservations to get some seat assignments for my flights in business class on LAX/ICN/HKG and ICN/FRA. The reservations agent was curt, did not seem to really want to help me, simply said "yeah" when I wanted my special meal reconfirmed. Really unacceptable. I was so turned off by his attitude that I asked him to change me to the later LH operated flight ICN/FRA. Since I"m on a RTW ticket, I asked him to change the flights but he told me that since it was an LH issued ticket they had to do it...that's not true.

Anyway, I hung up in his face after he thrice refused to help, called LH and put myself and my party on their flight ICN/FRA. Enough is enough...Asiana needs to clean up their act at LAX res.

You said your ticket is issued by LH. Why did you call OZ in the first place?
For chances in date, schedule, and route, you should call a ticketing carrier?
In your case, LH.

Don't think LH can do OZ seat assignments for you regardless of issuing the ticket. I believe he had no choice but to call OZ for seat assignments on OZ flights. Aslo true for special meal requests.

Exactly...

Listen, OZ is an OK carrier but really they have a lot of improvements to make if they want to keep high-yield pax who are accustomed to other 5 star airlines. That's just the bottom line.

Either it's OZ bashing or perhaps the quality really is going down?

No I think the quality is going down and maybe there is a case of resting on laurels. Who knows?

Not exactly sure why, but every time I called about my OZ reservation, I was always routed to the Korea call center. They are all very nice and always try to be helpful there, but their English is difficult to understand sometimes. In any event, there is no reason to have poor agent(s) in the US, though.

LAX

Just got off of a last minute LAX/ICN and even though I was in a middle seat on the 777, the inflight service and catering beat Singapore Airlines (if we can use that as a benchmark anymore) by a mile. I was so impressed by the freshness of the food on the plane, especially after reading some of the posts. The lobster was great, there was no disgusting terrine and the lettuce and vegetables in the dish seemed organic or farm fresh--I know that's wishful thinking--but no I wasn't drunk or deirious. I"m a pretty harsh critic but I have to say, if they could straighten out their ground ops and res ops in LA, I would fly them more.

Sure the seats in biz need work but not a bad way to fly across the pacific.

OP says "I asked him to change me to the later LH operated flight ICN/FRA. Since I"m on a RTW ticket, I asked him to change the flights but he told me that since it was an LH issued ticket they had to do it...that's not true."

Again he should have called LH.
OZ can't change the ticket issued by LH.
So simple is that.

Try reading the OP again. First thing he does is call OZ for an OZ flight to get help including seat assignments and to confirm his meal. Not for an LH flight but for an OZ flight. Regardless of the fact that LH booked his OZ flight they cannot help with these requests on OZ metal.

His second request was for a flight change and yes, that had to be handles through LH.

I know, I know,
My point is no reason for complaining about the flight change.
Should not add that in the wish list.
