With the economy is a downward spiral my business travel has been cut back dramatically and it is doubtful that I will maintain my Diamond status in 2010. I am not even sure if I will hit Gold. Is there a 12 step program I can join?

More than likely, after you stop staying as much, they'll send you a challenge to regain some sort of status with a limited amount of stays.

Hotel hopping on multi-night trips to requal by Stays rather than Nights or Points.

Maybe so, Maybe not

I was diamond for 7 years straight

I left Hh Cold turkey for greener pastures and never once rec'd a challenge from Hh

I'm gold thru next year but I don't know how, I've had one paid stay since Dec 2006; however I have had no offer of a diamond challenge and thats about the only thing that could get me back with paid stays

You could always ask some other program for a status match while you are still diamond and hope the expiration date on that extends out another year.

The sky does not fall, neither Henny Penny nor Chicken Little comes-a-cryin, and the sun will rise and set as before, just from a lower floor, without breakfast or lounge access ;)

I was HH Diamond and/or Gold for quite some time, as well as SPG Platinum from program day 1. I am now HH Silver and SPG Gold. I almost did a mattress run for HH when they made me an offer last year, but in retrospect, I'm glad I didn't do it, because I haven't even had the opportunity to use the status benefits this year. I figure that on a trip that I really want the lounge access, I'll buy a room on that level.

Enjoy your nights at home.

You could always sign up for the Amex Surpass card and get automatic gold status. Also keep it with 20K in spending each year.

Has anyone been given an offer in the past few weeks? I am about to ask for a challenge to extend Diamond status, and thought I might suggest a threshold myself.. if I had an idea as to what might be a reasonably acceptable recommendation.

8 stays by 30Apr? More? That kind of feedback would be helpful.
