Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - BMW 7 Series Limousine Service (For Hong Kong–based DM in F/A class)

well, this is a nice offer...but just can't help to think that if a HK-based DM still can travel in paid F/A class these days, either he/she is really senior in work or the owner him/herself, or he/she has a lot to spend on his/her vacation (cannot get this benefit when using his/her lots of miles earned for Z ticket, or cannot even buy business class and upgrade). then just a one-way BMW 7-series service that has to be booked proactively 3 days in advance might not sound too interesting to him/her as he/she probably has his/her nice car... :)

but, one quiestion I'm thinking...if I'm traveling with a paid F/A ticket myself, but traveling with my wife / baby / maid (and they on miles / companion tickets etc), would they charge extra for the few of them ? hope not...

It's more about BMWHK trying to be proactive by promoting the new 7 Series me thinks. Honestly though, given the current economic conditions, who would pay to travel in F.... let alone buying a new luxury car? :p

As it says "every step of the way", it may not be by BMWHK.

another useless offer.

would be great if offered to all DM's traveling in Business/First regardless of booking class.

i see this as a similar offer i have with my credit card. They offered me a one way drop off or pickup with M.Benz S class or Lexus if i paid 80% or more of the ticket with it..but the catch was.. i had to be on a certain airline and book 3 days before my use and not be able to change time or schedule thereafter without incurring any costs.. I was only able to use it once, and they came with a Camry because they 'ran out' of M or L cars... at 6am!?

Don't some travel agents such as Farrington as well as Amex Centurion offer car service if you buy J/F tickets from them? Maybe even Amex Plat.

Generally it's not a particularly nice "benefit" with all the restrictions and time period restriction. Basically a marketing gimmick.

What annoys me constantly is the CX grudgingly gives car transfer service in LHR for J class but only if you know about it from word of mouth and ask for it specifically, unlike VS who actively promote it.

I don't get this at all?

What is the big fuzz about being picked up in a 7 series BMW which is included in a F/A ticket? If you fork out for such a ticket in the first place (or even have clocked up miles to get such a flight) I think the pickup in a specific type of car shouldn't break the bank!?!? If this is a specific service query about being picked up at home its a different story otherwise get over it... ;-)

If it is such a big deal call some limo service pay whatever it costs and get them to pick you up and take you the the airport!

I don't think anyone is complaining about being picked up or not. The point for a lot on here is that CX is touting some benefit, that is more a slap in the face for it's members and full fare paying F/A passengers. A slap because it is for a limited period of time, has many conditions attached to it and really isn't that useful to those who are actually flying F class or fly enough to be DM.

The reality is that most people do call a car service, or for those who travel for business, realise that taking the airport express is the most convenient way to get to the airport.

Nice marketing 'slap'! :D

I wonder if BMW is paying CX or CX is paying BMW for this odd advertising. ;)

My apologies. Must have read the initial post wrong or just misunderstood the meaning of the "problem".

While on the subject, why wouldn't CX just give complimentary chauffeur driven services to to all their F/A passengers then? It won't cost them anything. Their little PR stunt seems to have back fired...

Agree 100% with you that taking the train to any major airport in the world is the only way to get there (something we're missing in Dublin unfortunately).

Cheers,

F

They may like to limit the cost and show that it means something if you are their most loyal and high-revenue passengers. There may not be enough limos if they offer to all F/A passengers. I tend to believe that this service will cost them some money. However, whether DMs on F/A would take that offer would be a different story.

Just saw this limited time promotion on CX website.. basically for DM members only when taking outbound flight in F ex-HKG... I enquired about it and was told that it was valid for all paid F class tickets including A class, as well as F upgrade and redemption tickets.. they are using the new BMW 7 series, so probably a join promotion with BMW or something.. need to fax a form in, etc and first come first service...is it true F upgrade and redemption tickets are eligible ? because in what I saw before, it said F and A class only...

I called and asked 2 days ago and they said that it was just changed to allow upgrade and redemption bookings to book the limo service as well, and it will be communicated to all members on March 12th

Never really looked into that since I always have company or personal cars waiting on both ends :)
