So I waited up until midnight to see the new destination pop up on their website..... but after midnight the site showed no new info. Several hours later, it still doesn't show details. :-/ Thanks for the heads up on LAX..... I was hoping it would be TUS but oh well.

Guess I'll post this in this thread, too... :)
Will there EVER be another destination G4 will fly to from Eastern cities, other than Florida? GSP has nonstops (after new flights to Punta Gorda start in March) to 4 Florida destinations, but one really doesn't have the need to go to that many places in Florida very often.
We had a Las Vegas flight VERY briefly, but with fuel prices sky high at the time, and range issues with the a/c, that was quashed early. Maybe they'll get another type in the fleet, so Eastern cities can have LAS svc again?????

New York will likely be added next year, who knows which airport though. That will be a possible for GSP.
And they have kicked the tires on another fleet type. Allegiant looked at picking up 757s. But now they seem to be looking at adding 737-800s or an Airbus model. They will do it when it makes sense to them.
Right now with MD prices dropping they can grow the company very cheaply. So I think that is the plan for the next couple of years. But who knows but them. :D

That's very encouraging. I hope it happens sooner rather than later. I flew G4 in Jan to SFD, and was really impressed. But, I really don't have any need to fly to the other destinations they fly to from my home airport. The NYC area would be killer! It's always a "destination", and G4's brand of ultra-low fares would be a hit from many markets, I'm sure.
On a tangent, it looks like on the route map, that flights to the Phoenix/Mesa area would be a bit shorter than LAS - wonder if 1) that would be a viable MD80 route to/from GSP, and 2) there would be a market for such flights?

Its about 150 miles shorter. Allegiant overall has been averaging segments below 900 miles these days while GSP-AZA would be about 1600 miles.
But it really comes down to revenue vs. cost. That's a model I don't have for an answer.

Isn't MD80 have more seriously weight restricted from GSP-AZA nonstop? I think it would be good supportable for flying more long distance. I think 738 is more convenient for flying nonstop longer flight rather than MD80 series.

I hope there's a longer-range a/c in G4's near future. I just threw AZA out there to see what the reaction would be. I KNOW LAS (and for that matter, LAX) would work from GSP, given enough time. Our catchment area is immense - from CAE to CLT to ATL to all of Western N. Carolina. I know there's interest in the destination, and if G4 would give the route enough time for people to plan a vacation before pulling it, I believe it would be a good thing for both the airport and the airline.
