California - SMF Airport hotels with 24-hr shuttles?

I'm flying in to SMF from ORD on March 13 and am due in at 2300 on a UA flight. I then leave SMF on UA at 0620 the following morning. I'm wondering whether it's worth booking a hotel for what could turn out to be less than seven hours in SMF. I've searched for nearby hotels with a 24hr shuttle but can't tell which ones do and which don't. Any suggestions will be welcome.

You've probably figured out that there are no hotels immediately nearby SMF.
You talking >6 miles either into northside Sacramento or Woodland.
The Natomas/South Natomas area of the former has several hotels, but I don't think any has a 24 hour shuttle.
The latter has a Holiday Inn Express or a Hampton, and some other skeevier choices.
You can try doing a search on kayak.com and look for hotels with the little bus symbol lit up.
A taxi will probably run you $20 one way to either Woodland or Natomas.
Your best bet would be to get a cheap one-day weekend rate rental car, imo.

It's now closed. (http://www.sacairports.org/int/passenger/index.html#hotel)
There is a link (http://www.sacairports.org/int/passenger/HotelswithShuttleServicev.2.pdf), though, on the SMF website to hotels that have free shuttles

SMF is literally in the middle of open fields.
Although I've never tried it (and don't intend to!), sleeping at this airport would also be grim -- this is confirmed by the "sleeping in airports" website. Plus, there seem to be cops wandering around all the time, they might even kick you out.
You won't have a great seven hours, alas.

Iirc, Seat 2A has some trip reports noting how he slept in his van in the long-term parking lot :D
But Richard is right on all counts.

Ive slept in SMF twice in the past 8 months because of large bump vouchers being offered by CO. They also offered me a hotel but since I am usually on the red-eye and get re-booked to the 6 am flight its pointless and I just ask for a larger voucher, 4 blankets, and 3 pillows. :D Its not great but not all that bad if they rebook you in F.
Note: Ive never had problems with police or other airport employees bothering me but then again I probably dont look like a homeless person.:p
