Hilton HHonors - Question about Hilton Gold Status

I am Hilton Gold through paid stays until April 2009. Last year I did not do as much traveling and did not qualify for gold through my stays. I did however qualify for "phony" Gold based on my spending on Hilton Amex. My gold status shows expiration April 09, which should be December 31, 09(thanks to Hilton card).
I qualifed for Gold through Amex earlier than Dec 08 probably around Aug or Sept. When I contacted Hilton Honors I am told that they do not see spending being met from Amex. I tried doing a 3 way call, myself, Amex, and Hilton, to verify spend but I was told it must come through electronically. I see in terms and conditions that Gold status is updated 10-12 weeks after spending is met. Would that be 10-12 weeks from Aug 08, or 10-12 weeks from Dec 08? Has Hilton Amex gold status for 08 been posted for anyone else?
I am hoping Gold status will just carry right through as I have stays first week in May.
With Hilton going by calender year now, if I would have qualified by paid stays would I be Gold until April 2010?

Does your December AMEX billing show that you have spent more than the $20K? If so, I would call HHonors again and offer to fax them a copy of the bill.

Yes as of Sept, statement showed that I reached 20,000 spend. I have called Amex and they see that I did meet requirement. The problem lies with Hilton they do not see this. I had Hilton Honors rep open an inquiry. I hope this corrects problem. Anyone else have problems with Amex not reporting spending being met to Hilton??
