Just received this email from former Flyertalker Len Brennan. He wanted me to share his experience at the Brussels Conrad last night:
Just got back from Brussels. Was there for one night meeting the Canadian girl. She flew in from LHR on BD. We stayed at the Conrad which is a lovely hotel. Got a good rate for 189 Euros all-in, but because it was Valentine's night, when we arrived in the room there was a complimentary bottle of Champagne waiting for us in an ice bucket. It was a full bottle too, of Moet. I looked at the room service menu and it was 100 Euros! That is an unbelievable gift. It was more than half the cost of the room alone. I'm only a Hilton Honours Silver too.
When we got back to the room she wanted to watch Lucky Ladders, but after we selected it, it wouldn't work. So she rang down to reception and actually said, "We're trying to watch Lucky Ladders but it won't work". She was drunk.
