I'm trying to get to Baton Rogue from NYC.

It looks like all flights are connecting and pricing. How easy/hard is it to get to Baton Rogue from New Orleans Airport?

What are my options to get from one place to another (rental car, train, bus, taxi) etc?

New Orleans airport is on western edge of the city. So travleing by rental car on I-10 should be less than 80 miles. You could make it in an hour fairly easily I would think.

Bus may be an option, but I'm no help there.

There may also be an airport to airport or some other type shuttle service between the two cities.

I would think taxi would be costly but possible.

Your best bet would to be rent a car and drive to Baton ROUGE. Previous poster was spot on.

You might look at Southwest.com for inexpensive flights between the NYC area (ISP) and New Orleans (MSY). There are web specials from $89 OW. Save enough and take the cab to Baton Rouge. ^

Connections thru IAH (CO), DFW(AA) or MEM (NW) and maybe ATL (DL) likely but at some cost. The WN suggestion doesn't really apply, since WN serves MSY, not Baton Rouge.

I wouldn't hesitate to rent at MSY. It's short drive, and if time permits, there are all sorts of side trips available. Besides, you'll need a car in BR for almost any "need/desire" outside the hotel. Don't bother with even investigating the train/bus/taxi non-options.
