Sorry I haven't kept up with this one, but are we still required (2009) to purchase at least $200 of Amtrak tickets to then transfer to choice points?

Thanks

OK. If I spend $200 today on a Amtrack ticket on my card, How soon can I do the transfer? Can I do it toay, after the billing statement, or after I take the Amtrak travel? Also could I cancel the travel ticket (after the transfer) and still retain the transferred points?

After credit card points for Amtrak purchases post to your AGR account--they post as "Chase Amtrak Travel".
As for canceling later--you should be okay for one year. YMMV after that.

OK. Once you have the "Chase Amtrak Travel" can you then do the Amtrak
to CO transfer right away?

That's my understanding.

yes once agents see 400 points from such purchase (amtrak purchases give 2 points per dollar) they will do the transfer.

Can someone with an eligible AGR account transfer to anyone's Choice account? (i.e. if I needed X points in Choice, could I trade for AGR points from a Select or higher member and have them transfer the points?)

It is not allowed, however it may work.

Thanks, I've posted over in CC. Any ideas on valuation of 5K AGR?

I would value 5K AGR = 5K miles to start. However, remember that there is a surplus of AGR points among FTers due to the fiasco of Autumn 2007--but a shortage of FTers who can transfer AGR to Choice!

Yep, that was a disaster. I am tempted to get the AGR credit card just for this but don't want yet another CC. And you cannot transfer an existing Chase card to it.

If I buy a $200+ Amtrak ticket for someone else using my Amtrak MC, will that qualify me to make the transfer to Choice?

Thanks.

Yes.

I would only guess YES, but soitgoes knows for certain, because the AGR rep. needs to see only that U have earned AGR points by buying > $200 in tickets on your MC.

Yep. To clarify, as soon as the points from that CC statement post to your AGR account, you are 'qualified'. The reps manually look at postings.
