After the door closes and the flight isn't too full...will the crew get mad if I change to a seat in the extra leg room rows ????

I do not know if that has changed. I do know that if I had paid for the extra space and you self-upgraded to sit next to me without paying for the seat I'd be pretty annoyed. If you want the benefit, pay for it. The prices are hardly extortionate. flying4aliving Feb 9, 09, 6:25 pm The educate and allow the reseat is still pretty much B6's policy. My personal preference is, please, ask an inflight crewmember before jumping into another seat. There have been rare times where a customer will purchase an entire bank of seats so they can lay down and sleep. If you do change your seat after placing your drink order, but before it's delivered to you, you'll most likely find your drink on the tray table of the original seat. :D JetBlueFA Feb 9, 09, 9:20 pm As flying4aliving stated the policy is to educate and allow you to still sit there. However I have run across many a few flight attendants that will chase a customer out of the seat because they haven't paid for it. Not only that but I have had cases of customers, who paid, get very upset and start to scream at flight attendants. I would get upset too if I saw this happening. To save yourself from this, if you don't purchase, just at one of the working crewmembers. It shows a sign of respect and they may let you move, or they may not. Since I'm on the 190 for the next couple of months I don't run into this problem as much since I only have 4 seats to worry about. seanherron Feb 12, 09, 4:33 pm I was on a flight yesterday, JFK to BUR, and paid for an EML seat. I was lucky enough to have an empty middle seat between me and the person sitting in the aisle. Right after the door closed, however, a family who was sitting in the back of the plane decided to move up and fill all of the empty middles in EML with the parents and 3-4 children (all of whom were like 5 or under). Of course, I was unlucky enough to sit next to a child who decided to get sick and throw up, make lots and lots of noise, play loud video games, etc. I was definitely annoyed (especially over the fact that I had paid 30 bucks to be able to sit there, yet a family decided it was OK to move up and take seats what were worth probably about $150 in total). The flight attendants didn't really seem to care much (though I can't really fault them - the family didn't speak english and they were trying to make an on-time departure). JetBlue really needs to have a policy on this - no free "self-upgrades" to EML. EML is the closest thing B6 has to an "upper class", especially since it is normally filled with business travelers or frequent fliers who know the "etiquette" of flying. It's not fair to me, as a loyal B6 EML flier, that someone else can come up and get a seat for free when I pay $30. Despite our objections the company has been hesitant to change the policy. They will only change if they get emails from customers like you! I'm sorry you had a horrible experience the other day :( Howgart Feb 14, 09, 6:14 pm JetBlue really needs to have a policy on this - no free "self-upgrades" to EML. As someone who frequently does pay, I get a bit peeved when someone encroaches on what had been an empty middle seat. Will definitely write B6 about this. Oh, and FWIW (and I'm sure I'm opening myself up for flames here) If I'm paying extra for the enhanced seat, I'd like to see B6 allow pre-boarding for those who've paid. Makes little sense to me that I pay extra for a seat up front, only to board last and have little or no overhead space left. BearX220 Feb 14, 09, 7:09 pm After the door closes and the flight isn't too full...will the crew get mad if I change to a seat in the extra leg room rows ???? That is theft. They cost more. You're stealing. I have run across many a few flight attendants that will chase a customer out of the seat because they haven't paid for it. Not only that but I have had cases of customers, who paid, get very upset and start to scream at flight attendants. Good. It's ridiculous to place a dollar value on EML before pushback, but not after. ...a family decided it was OK to move up and take seats what were worth probably about $150 in total). You should request a refund of your EML surcharge, to put you in line with what the freeloading family paid, e.g. $0. The one time I paid for EML I was surounded by middle-school field-trippers who obviously hadn't, and as there seems to be no penalty for self-upgrading on the plane, I'll never pay for EML again. No later than the announcement of the TB2 program, which should be in a few months. It looks like they are going to have an elite status level for TSA screening and pre-boarding. It makes sense to extend that benefit to folks who pay extra for EML. JAX2BOS Feb 16, 09, 12:10 am Hmmm, hopefully an announcement soon? Just stayed tuned, that's all we're saying ;) PepsiAddict Feb 16, 09, 1:09 am On my set of flights last week they offered pre-boarding to anyone in an exit row (at all 3 airports) ... so thats at least acouple of the EML seats. I dont remember that being included in pre-boarding on my previous flights. aaron1262 Feb 16, 09, 1:05 pm i don't think it's right to sit in the EML seats if they're open after departure. like others have said, they do cost more and i would think that people that HAVE paid would get mad. on the flip side if the plane wasnt very full like less than 50% and no body was sitting in those seats i would ask the FA if it's ok to sit there. You are still sitting in Coach..so,you should board with all the other coach passengers. sbm12 Feb 16, 09, 3:56 pm You are still sitting in Coach..so,you should board with all the other coach passengers. But they are seated in the premium cabin, as much as the carrier offers such. Why shouldn't they get a premium boarding experience, too? nerd Feb 16, 09, 9:50 pm You are still sitting in Coach..so,you should board with all the other coach passengers. So when you fly coach on CO or NW, you board at the same time as everyone else who's sitting in your row, right? JetBlueFA Feb 17, 09, 7:46 am What about elite members of other airline frequent flyer programs? If they aren't sitting in First should they ignore the preboarding courtesy awarded to their status and board with the rest of the Coach Cabin? dinosims Feb 18, 09, 2:04 am It doesn't really matter what other airlines do - as of now, jetBlue is selling this add-on as a seat with more legroom, and nothing more. If they wanted to, I'm sure they could market it as 'premium product' with preboarding, separate check in lines, speedy security, etc, along with the extra leg room, (and possibly even charge more) but as of now, the only thing you're buying when you upgrade to EML is a seat with more legroom. I don't see how someone could read the description of what they're buying and think they're getting more than they bought. sbm12 Feb 18, 09, 6:26 am It doesn't really matter what other airlines do - as of now, jetBlue is selling this add-on as a seat with more legroom, and nothing more. Should people NOT board because it wasn't part of what they signed up for even though the GA made the offer? My guess is that a GA jumped the gun on offering this benefit based on misreading some internal communication, or they wish they worked at a legacy where there must be some group pre-boarding so they just made the announcement. Howgart Feb 18, 09, 5:57 pm Wait just a little bit longer. Thanks very much for the heads-up JB FA and JAX2BOS! |
