I recently bought 2 tickets to fly Frontier online, one for me and one for my boyfriend. Some things came up, and now he is unable to go on the trip. My mother was going to go in his place, but the tickets cant be changed. Is there anyway my mother can use his ticket? I thought about confirming my flight and printing my boarding passes online (since they allow you to do this 24 hrs in advance), but would she still be stopped in the airport?

Tickets are not transferrable and they ask for ID at security and at boarding.

There is no way whatsoever that your mother will be able to use this ticket unless she has an ID that has her picture and your boyfriend's name on it.... :)

Check with the airline, it's VERY rare, but they can change tickets at their discretion, if they want to.

Before we were married, I booked a ticket for my wife forgetting that her given name (on her passport) and the name she uses are different, and we didn't notice the mistake until 12 hours before we flew.

British Airways did concede to changing her name, but only after hours of fighting with them at the LAX ticketing desk, and a small fee.

If the name is one that your mother could have (e.g. Chris) she might be able to get away with it (claim not to have ID), but I doubt it.

If you want to be really devious, you could book a fully refundable ticket in her name to get through the TSA (in case they check to verify her identity) and refund it before boarding.
