Korean Air Skypass - Korean Airlines seating and comparison to other carriers.

Have flown a lot in my life on many country's airlines. However, have never flown Korean, which I am about to do the beginning of march. Five of us, two Americans and three Thais, are flying roundtrip from Atlanta to Bangkok via Seoul in economy.

How does Korean economy compare with Thai International, Singapore, and Asiana airlines?

Noticed that they advertise newly designed cabins with more comfortable seats. I believe 34 inch pitch which is comparable to Thai. Does anyone know if Korean has the new cabin configuation on the Atlanta - Seoul run with a B747-400?

We made reservations more than a month in advance and could not get any seating assignments sitting together on this routing. However, we did get good seats from Seoul - Bangkok and from Bangkok - Atlanta return.

For me the refurbed seats on the 777-200s were nicer (newer) than the 747, but I don't remember suffering in the 747 seats. I've only flown the latter one time; since then I've been lucky enough to get the 772s via IAD. The economy seating between ICN and BKK is nothing special - no AVOD, just cabin monitors. OK for the short haul.

Expect the cabin to be warm. For some reason, they set the thermostat higher than other airlines do.

I moved away from the north forty years ago to get away from the cold. A warm cabin will be a welcome change from the walk in cooler cabins I have experienced on most long haul flights. Maybe that's the only way for the Korean Air crew to get away from the fridgid country they live in.
