Does the 747 equiment used on this route have the newer C class seats with the 60" pitch? Any recent experience on the route? TIA

It depends on when is your flight. Before late March, yes, you'll have new C seats with AVOD, although whenever irregular operation occurs, SYD will be the first route for equipment swap. After late March, back to old configuration.

You can check exact information 1 week before your flight through KE cargo website.

Noticed this week that ICN-SYD is being downgraded from 777 to A330-300 for the northern summer schedule... we are booked for SYD-ICN in early July... does this mean we are now stuck with the dowdy old / regional seats in J and the tighter pitch? ICN-SYD is a 10:45 flight! Hardly a "regional" flight.

It's actually A330-200 which mainly flies long-haul route

It's actually A330-200 which mainly flies long-haul route I know, but the -300 is showing as assigned to SYD, both on the Korean Air website and the Airline Route Updates blog (http://airlineroute.blogspot.com/search/label/Korean%20Air).

Other KE Oceania changes for summer 2009 reported by said blog:

ICN-BNE cut to 3x/week, also with A330-300
ICN-KIX-GUM 3x/week operates short six-week season, July/August only, with A330-300
ICN-AKL cut to 5x/week, compared to daily in summer '08
A330-300 replaces 777 on ICN-GUM

Unless they are racing to upgrade the -300 cabins (which I doubt) it looks to me like Oceania is getting fully rogered by KE. These are 1980s-era business class seats, definitely not a competitive product. I might as well just fly home on Hawaiian in crappy American domestic F.

Seoul - Sydney A330-200 operates Daily service, replace 777 which operated in Summer 08

Above is what I wrote on the airline route updates blog. I probably might have edited afterward, but KE website also shows A330-200 to SYD

Seoul - Sydney A330-200 operates Daily service, replace 777 which operated in Summer 08... KE website also shows A330-200 to SYD I wish it were so, but KE website shows ICN-SYD switching from a -200 to a -300 effective the first week of July... (search KE121/122 after 7 July or so)... and my online itin has been updated to show a -300 on SYD-ICN 13 July also. Very disappointed; this looks like the worst widebody in the KE fleet. I was looking forward to this flight but not now.

Looks like 333 is operating 01JUL09 to 31AUG09. 332 returns from 01SEP09

Am I right in believing that the A330-200 I'll have from SYD in April has the same C class seats as the 'old version' B777-200? Thanks!

BTW, something very strange here - After booking the flight, when I called KE for the seat assignments, the layout they mention definitely correspond to a 777-200 despite the flights being advertised as 330-200 (layout goes rows 7 to 10 with 2-3-2 configuration on the seats they proposed us). Has anybody got an explanation??
