here is a link about the changes to be:

Radisson Hotels & Resorts announces that 170 Radisson SAS locations operated by The Rezidor Hotel Group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa are changing their names to Radisson Blu. The change is taking place because the SAS Group, former owner of Rezidor, sold the company in a public offering in November 2006 and no longer has a formal connection with the Radisson brand. Rezidor is the master franchisor of the Radisson brand in EMEA.

well that's going to cost them a lot of money, changing everything with the SAS logo on it.

I wouldn`t be surprised if they change all accumulated brands to Carlson Hotels some years into the future.

And, no, the GPP program will not be affected as far as I have been told. This also means no positive changes which would make the whole thing more interesting in regards to SPG and such.

The main problem of Radisson hotels is the consistency of the brand throughout the world.

As it is operated from different perspectives in the US (more old American Holiday Inns like) than in EMEA (more stylish, between Sofitel and good Hyatt hotels), I won’t be surprised than one day the network in EMEA will be merged with a more upscale chain.
