What are you looking for?

I've rented with Thrifty twice and Dollar once (same company but, at least when I last rented at LAX, separate facilities, though they were supposed to be merging into one at some point). All three have been normal experiences.

Dollar shuttle was a little slow--saw the others (including Thrifty) come around three or so times before the Dollar one came (wait of about maybe 15 minutes). No long lines when I got to the offices (even so, Dollar's Dollar Express line is off to the left side and quick; Thrifty's Blue Chip desk is out in the garage out back and can actually sometimes have a short line).

Cars were new (under 10k miles) and in good condition. Once I booked a midsize and got a free upgrade to a Magnum. Other times I booked a Premium (Chrysler 300 base model; cost was just a few bucks more than a fullsize) and got a free upgrade to the 300 Touring (Luxury class online and considerably more expensive than the Premium class).

Staff were usually ESL speakers and dealing with them was efficient though not overly personal. Managers were nice enough to waive underage fees for me at least two (and maybe all three) times.

Good location. No line when I was there - they give you a row number and you pick your car. I rented a standard: on that day there were Sebrings, minivans, and a Civic to pick from in the standard size row. Most cars parked outside - nicer cars (Mercedes, Corvettes, Hummers) in the garage.

If the shuttle is running slow they are right next door to the Westin, so you can always hop the Westin shuttle.
