Is that specific enough? :)
I am looking for some ear buds, for use both on airplanes and while exercising.
I already have some Sony MDR-NC6s headphones, but looking for something smaller (and in ear).
So I have a $75 gift card to Best Buy... looks like they have:
Sony, Phillips, Skull Candy, and Altec Lansing for under $30
Sony MDREX85LP/B for $48
Altec Lansing UHP206 for $50
Altec Lansing UHP326 for $80
V-MODA for $80
Shure SE110K for $80
Thoughts? Thanks!

For working out at the gym, my wife and I both like the V-Moda Bass Freq earbuds (http://www.v-moda.com/collection/modaphones/bass%20freq.aspx). They are comfortable, fit well, and deliver decent sound. Unfortunately, they are not available at Best Buy. My suggestion would be to pick up a pair from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Bass-Freq-Earbuds-Platinum/dp/B000G00UOU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1234384765&sr=8-2) for $25 and use your Best Buy gift card for something else.

You did not see say what kind of exercising you will be doing, but noise can be an issue when working out with some of the powered equipment, like treadmills. It is an issue on a plane. I don't know if any of those models listed have passive noise canceling in their specs, but that would be something to look for. Also, hold out for something with a case. I bought a pair of Shure earbuds last year, and the hard-shell zippered case is big enough for me to get them in there, and my iPod. Most convenient when traveling.

whhzzzat?? passive noise cancelling????????????????
i like my shures because the case is about the size of a snuff can, and fits in a small zip packet with my iPod and charger.
shures are good. much better than NC headphones. all nc headphones leak noise, and make ears very hot. i am certain the headphones are what fried my brains, however, i cannot find an atty to take the case against bose.

You've never heard of them? They do make them as earbuds. Not talking about the over-the-ear style, and not talking about the active style, that require batteries. I have a pair of passive Shures. Can't tell you the model number, but they cost about $200 two years ago. I figured by now, the price had come down into the OP's range for some kind of passive ear buds.

For running, and in a pinch on a plane, I use Sennheiser Sport Headphones. (http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Twist-Stereo-Sport-Headphones/dp/B000FJEYZS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1234543064&sr=8-3) Not sure if Best Buy carries them, but Amazon certainly does.
I usually run outside, some long runs (about 15 miles on Sundays), sometimes windy, and these hold up very well. I also use them on treadmills, and have no issues there.
On one flight, the cord to my noise canceling headphones broke, and I had these in my carry-on. They worked surprisingly well.

passive isolation is not cancellation. the shures are isolation. perform the same isolation function as ear plugs.
i think shures do a much better job creating a noise free environment, as all the cancellation headphones i have ever owned leak sound. some of the big pro sennheiseher models do not leak sound.

Thanks. I think I will try the Sures. (I tried the Sony, and was unhappy with them - not loud enough, and too much bass.)
