Ok - i'm looking at doing SYD - MAN - GVA - SYD in Dec 09 /Jan 10

Qantas website wants >A$5.1k

BA website wants approx. A$3.4k

For the same flights (to / from UK on QF metal)

Come on Qantas.........

If i end up booking through BA (as a QF WP frequent flier) are there any downsides ? (4 QF flights won't be an issue)

Cheers
David

What can I say, other than there's plenty of punters prepared to pay higher fares on Qantas ex OZ.

BA often employs this little trick in its pricing -- very high short-haul prices in Europe when added-on to long-haul flights. Most likely BA and QF are pricing identically for SYD-LHR but the LHR-MAN and MAN-GVA sectors cost a lot less for BA than when QF buys it from BA. I've often seen this also on AA/BA combos (and there the FF restrictions lock many into one or the other). Due to the JSA the SYD-LHR pricing is guaranteed to be identical for both QF and BA.....this is a case of BA being greedy and QF being vicitimized, methinks.
