I asked airport personnel in Ecuador if I could pay the airport tax with a credit card. They said 'yes'...there was a Diners Club owned and operated kiosk for this purpose.
I attempt to pay, but they said my Diners Club started with a 5 (i.e. is also a Master Card) so therefore they could not accept it. After some arguing (i.e. showing them the only phone number on my card is the 2-diners number) I gave up. However, they said my Diners Club would work for the club upstairs--apparently the DC properties change between floors.
When is a Diners Club really a Diners Club...this is great for branding.
I complain via secure web to DC, but they respond that due to secrecy I must call them at the generic number...should I bother?
