MilesBuzz! - Using Netflix for points/miles if non USA resident
This just came up on a thread in Priority Club but I have seen Netflix partner with other airlines too. What I am trying to figure out is the feasibility of a non-US resident using the promo to get the points using a friend's US address and my Aussie Amex to pay for it. It would be nice if I can use the instant downloaded movies to get some value other than the points.

So have any non USA residents used Netflix to get points/miles in ANY programs?

I presume you could sign up with a US address and simply not order any DVDs. Once you get your miles/points, you could cancel.
The streaming video will not work outside the US without some hackery -- using a VPN tunnel to a US server, for instance.
Is that because they code it somehow, like DVD region coding? What if I use a proxy? Although that is a last resort because proxies are a pita with the popup ads.

it's not exactly like region coding...
they just only accept IP addresses that they know are in the US. So if your IP address shows up as being in Mexico or something like that, they will refuse to stream anything to it.
so there's no equivalent of a region-free DVD player for this.
instead, you need to play the movie in the US and somehow reroute the traffic back to yourself.
OK I got registered, it won't let me in from an Aussie IP as you said. I went in under a US based proxy from FF and got a screen telling me to install MS Silverlight, so I went into IE, installed it and went back to the proxy in FF and attempted to watch an instant movie. The system is willing to let me have the movie from the Netflix side but Silverlight doesn't want to play with the proxy. Any ideas? I am happy to pay the $8.99 for the 3000 PC points but it would be nice to get some movies too.
