So I go here (http://www.sixt.co.uk/rental-services/sixt-cards/)

and then click through to here. (http://www.sixt.co.uk/rental-services/sixt-cards/sixt-gold-card/)

Then I select "Marriott Rewards: basic level" and fill in my details. But it's entirely unclear from the site what this gives me? The implication from the location of this "frequent flyer" link is that I will get Gold. But I can't believe basic level Marriott is enough (given that you have to have elite/demi-elite status in most of the airline FFPs listed).

I guess I'll find out when the card arrives in the post but just curious. The site lists me as eligible for "LOYALTY PROGRAMS 2" when I log in: anyone know what this maps to, card-wise?

Really, I'm just after the 15% off Holiday Cars...........

I do not know the Mariott Rewards programm, but as it is listed I guess you will receive your Sixt Gold Card.

Just in case it does not work and you only get an Express Card: Apply for Leaders Club Base Level (complimentary, no stay required in first year) and you will receive the golden Sixt Card.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I have a Sixt Gold card and I always check prices having logged in with my Gold account and without logging in as Joe Public.

The standard internet rates always seem to be better or equal to those I get when logged in.

I used my basic-level Marriott Rewards number and rec'd my Sixt Gold card a couple of weeks later. Now, what that actually entitles me to is a bit underwhelming, but it's better than nothing.

It's true that the Gold-Rates are not good at all.

But, however, I experienced a better treatment since I got my Gold Card, received some nice upgrades (e.g. Smart --> BMW 1).

This is a must do! (and won't change if you become Platinum or Diamond member) ^ You always need to check both options to find a decent price.
