Trip Reports - My first experience on Continental up front, TPA-EWR-TPA (with pictures)

This past weekend I flew to NY on Continental. I know to many two domestic flights might not constitute an exciting trip report, but it was my first time venturing outside of the Star Alliance in quite a while. Thanks to my newly aquired Northwest Platinum status I was able to confirm upgrades into Continental BusinessFirst and First, and I was finally able to see if the grass was greener on the other side. Of course my sample size is only two, so I can't draw any conclusions, but rather just observations from two flights.

Here's the report:
Part One (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2009/01/19/continental-to-new-york-part-1/)
Part Two (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2009/01/20/continental-to-new-york-part-2/)
Part Three (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2009/01/20/continental-to-new-york-part-3/)
Part Four (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2009/01/20/continental-to-new-york-part-4/)

Intresting read lucky. Guess the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

That and there always is that lovely varible called "crew"...

And lack of IFE... You haven't had the experience of Short Haul EU travel recently. Then again... you could always make a getto IFE system ;)

Good report lucky.

TPA-EWR is a short haul though. Think: what would UA serve on a similar route?

My experiences (note, multiple) have been far superior than UA. So good that I have given up on UA entirely this year and have already booked 45K EQM with CO. Thats how good they are IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, CO can't compete with other international airlines. But, domestically, CO is the best.

Great report Lucky! The breakfast looks underwhelming, but the lunch looks good. I look forward to trying CO this year.

Pam Ann sounds hilarious.

Great TR Ben, I was considering a switch to CO this year, and you've given some additional information to help with that. ^

Actually, wouldn't they have an omelet with ham, sausage, hash browns, along with some fruit and a pastry on a 2.5 hour breakfast flight?

Clearly you don't fly United.:D

Thanks for the interesting read. Personally I think NW has the best clubs of any domestic carrier, with very few exceptions (this is one of the few things that NW does really well.) I am particularly fond of the big one in DTW across from gate A38. Most facilities are stylish, tastefully decorated and offer a decent open bar with snacks. DL's CRCs pale in comparison. CO's are just ok, with the one in IAH's Terminal E being my favorite.

The reason for your lack of IFE is that you were on a recently delivered 737-900ER. CO didn't receive them with IFE since they are starting to install LiveTV now on the domestic fleet. No point paying twice for 2 different systems.

I think this is very fabulous trip reports where you went to EWR on CO. So how is your flight doing? Why you don't take more pictures inside of cabin shot of Y class section and F class, too. I realizing you took on newest 737-900ER. it's look amazing brand new aircraft. Why you don't take best photos ouside of the aircraft. We need to give me more pictures of runway and on the sky, too. You realizing that was incredibly ride on CO from TPA-EWR-TPA.

Maybe I will try to see you in FLL or Arizona sometime in the future. That is an opportunity where you will coming to Arizona anytime soon. Thanks for your concerns, Lucky. :)

Good to know, thanks! I'm sure these planes will be great once they have LiveTV.
