Not sure if this is the right forum, but.....

Need to rent a car at yyz from 2/1 to 2/6. Very expensive for some reason. If I rent a day earlier, I end up saving a lot more money, I'm guessing cause it involves a Saturday.

Question is, If I rent the car with priceline on the 31st of Jan, will I have any problems picking it up on the 1st of Feb??

I would guess yes, you would have problems. I know priceline specifically addresses this regarding hotels and if you don't check in on the day you initially reserved for, your entire reservation will be canceled. I would assume it is the same with cars. I also assume it would be addressed on their website?

With Priceline your rental expires at midnight. However, if your flight is delayed you can call the rental agency and arrange for a later pickup. You will lose the day's rental cost. I doubt that it gets cheaper by picking it up earlier and so I would not expect success with the changed bid. Did you look at Hotwire?

What prices are you seeing? They don't look expensive to me.

At a recent Priceline car rental in Florida, my incoming flight was an hour or so late. When I got to the car rental counter, I was told that I had a 'pre-paid' reservation and so it didn't matter when I arrived, I could simply show up anytime. What matters, I was told, was the prompt RETURN date of the car. YMMV.

Have you considered simply calling the car rental counter at the local telephone number and ask them about arriving late for the car pickup?

Yes....to get a cheaper "weekend rate", the rental must start no later than on Saturday.
