Will be traveling to Kangaroo Island in a week or so.
We are at one of the prime resorts.
I know there is a lot to do but would like any reccomendations on special places to visit.
We will be there for 3.5 days
Thanks

I didn't even know they had resorts in KI!
So we might not share the same interests, but I will tell you where I went, back in 2005.
Penneshaw: there is a restaurant called FISH. The best Fish & Chips I've ever tried.
Clifford's Honey Farm: Central eastern part of the island, lots of great gifts and a very interesting place. The Honey Ice Cream was a nice treat.
Stoke's Bay: North central beach, doesn't look impressive but there is a very tight (natural) rock tunnel leading to a beautiful secluded beach area, with warm wading pools
Western KI Caravan Park: west sentral island. Camped here, laid out under the stars in a swag, there is a Koala walk where we saw a couple Koalas, but lots of Wallabys. And I woke up one morning with a red kangaroo sleeping next to me!
And of course you can't miss the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch on the southwest corner..
Have fun!

And its "green".
Southern Ocean Lodge is Australia's first true luxury lodge, offering a unique and exclusive travel experience on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Floating atop a secluded cliff on a rugged stretch of coast, the lodge commands peerless views of the wild Southern Ocean and pristine Kangaroo Island wilderness. Sensitive, intimate and sophisticated, Southern Ocean Lodge is a sanctuary of refined comfort and luxe, Kangaroo Island style.
Thanks for the tips and ideas

Interesting.
To me, KI is unspoilt wilderness and best seen in the rough! But the lodge looks great. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

We had a wonderful time on KI last month as part of a trip down under.
Although the lodge is supposed to be wonderful, we enjoyed fantastic hospitality in one of the nest places I've ever stayed in anwhere, (and I'm a 200 night per year traveller). Stranraer Homestead is an out of the way sheep farm with 3 bedrooms and food to die for.
There are some great things to do, but my favourite was the pelican feeding in Kingscote. Total and utter mayhem, but great fun.

Can anyone suggest a 2-day KI itinerary, starting in ADL, for August? thx in advance...

The most beautiful sites on the Island are in the very west. If you really only have two days, fly to KGC from ADL and rent a car to save the drive and the ferry ride.
Drive west and have your first stop at Seal Bay. The name is kind of self explanatory. Next stop can be the Kelly Hill Caves but if it is afternoon already, skip them.
The head for the Flinders Chase National Park. Visitors centre first, Bunker Hill and then Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks for sunset.
For accommodation I would take something in the west as well since the KI is big and you would lose too much time on the road. Suggestion is ascending order of sophistication (and price)
- Hanson Bay Cabins (http://www.hansonbay.com.au/hanson_bay_cabins.htm)
- Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat (http://www.kiwr.com/)
- Southern Ocean Lodge (http://www.southernoceanlodge.com.au/)
On day two I would go back into Flinders Chase and take the unpaved road north through the park (note, this road is currently closed due to trees on the road). See the Platypus Pools. Then go to Cape Borda Lighthouse. You can actually walk around there without a tour even so the information sounds different (you can only get into the lighthouse with a tour).
If you have time left, explore a bit of the North Coast like Snelling Beach(home to excellent accommodation as well).
