Not sure if its been posted. "Possibly" because it says offer valid for recipients of this mailing. You can try your luck:

It seems to be a targetted offer. You may be eligible to win miles or a vacation.

Must be targeted because one of my referrals tried and did not get offered any miles. I got 500 for the one thing I wasn't enrolled in. Hey easy 500 for me! :)

Agreed; seems to be 500 miles for each email you weren't already subscribed to; have to stay subscribed for 3 months to get the miles.

I count 5 emails for a possible 2,500 miles. Am I missing something here?

Well that's possible, but it probably was targeted to people who were at least signed up for one or two. My referral who tried was signed up for none of them, and she was offered zero miles as an incentive to do so.

I think perhaps this offer is meant for long time members who are not fully signed up for email lists.

I was subscribed to 4 of them. I am wondering if I can get points for all 5 by unsubscribing before clicking on the special link - I just unscribed from aa.com but it somehow still knows and shows 80%.

Perhaps it takes some time to clear out the memory. I will also try clearing out my cookies from my browser. Will let you know if it works ;)

The first post in this thread clearly spelled out the terms & conditions, which include:

"by subscribing to one or more of the following email products (AAdvantage eSummarySM, AAirmailSM, Net SAAver Fares®, AAdvantage® promotions, and AAVacationsSM travel picks) that individual is not subscribed to as of December 30, 2008."

So it doesn't care what you're currently subscribed to, it cares what you were subscribed to as of December 30. Thus unless you have a time machine, I don't see how unsubscribing would help.

I never got the email, but am already subscribed to most of them...I recall AA doing the same promo last year, so I'll probably unsubscribe and then wait for another invite.

I wasn't subscribed to any of the choices, but I did register. The site claimed that I'll get 1500 miles. None posted yet.

I'm not 100% sure that I'll see them since it was a targetted offer. Time will tell.

Got 500 miles. Thanks to the OP.

Will have to wait 3 months and after the 500 miles are in pocket before cancelling the uncessary emails. ;)

Easy 1500 miles for several family members accounts. I did not receive the promo email from AA but when I used this link it offered the miles for most accounts. Not all accounts offered the miles though so there seems to be some limitations on their offer of miles.

After the miles post (3 months), I'll have to remember to unsubscribe my family as AA seems fond on these subscribe-for-miles promos.

BTW, it's good to have a junk email account for this stuff.

Yes, I've already diarised (http://theglobaltraveller.blogspot.com/2009/01/up-to-2500-free-aa-miles.html). This is the 3rd lot of miles (2500 this time) for subscribing to the same emails in less than 3 years.

I just tried again and got offered only a sweepstakes entry. I didn't subscribe, I closed down the window. I don't know what it takes to be offered these promotions and it is very frustrating. We are platinum (via challenge) and would have been gold without the challenge so I guess we should qualify as good customers. Has anyone ever tried calling up to request a "targetted email"?

Regarding the targeted aspect of this promotion, here's the relevant rule:

2a. Persons subscribing to at least one American Airlines email product on the promotional microsite: During the Promotion Period, you will receive: i. All recipients of the targeted email have been pre-registered with the opportunity to enter the American Airlines Travel Brain Sweepstakes. In order to finalize the pre-registration, you must click on the link listed in the email sent to each targeted recipient, click to Subscribe to at least one (1) email product on the "Submit" button on the Subscribe page of the microsite. Upon submitting the Subscribe page, you will be entered into the drawing for the prize. Limit (1) entry per person through email product enrollment (regardless of the number of email products in which an individual enrolls). b. No Purchase Necessary: During the Promotion Period, you will receive: i. iOne (1) entry when you complete the non-targeted sweepstakes microsite, which is an official entry form online at www.aa.com/brain. Fill out the required information (including your first and last name, email address and AAdvantage® number) and click "submit" to enter the site. Upon clicking the "Submit" button on the Subscribe page of the microsite, you will be entered into the drawing for the prize. Limit (1) entry per person. ii. One (1) additional entry by forwarding the sweepstakes information to up to four (4) other individuals who would otherwise be eligible to enter the sweepstakes from www.aa.com/aatravelbrain. You may return to the site and refer additional friends, but you will not receive additional entries by using this method of entry. c. Limit two (2) entries per person, per AAdvantage® number, regardless of entry method.

Only one of my family members received the targeted email, which specfies a limit of 1,500 bonus mails that can be earned. That person then referred the other 3 family members, all of whom received invitations to participate. Two of them were able to sign up for certain additional emailings based upon how many mailings they were already receiving. All told, the original recipient and those other 2 family members will receive between 500-1500 bonus miles (one for each additional mailing to which they subscribed.)

Yours truly, who is apparently maxed out on mailings, only got an entry in the sweepstakes. :( And the person doing the referring received an extra entry in the sweepstakes.

And if anyone is trying to figure out the criteria for receiving the targeted email, consider this: the family member who received it was registered only for AAdvantage Summary email, and at the time she received the targeted mailing had precisely zero miles in her account.

When did you enroll? The T&C says: "After 90 days, the AAdvantage® bonus miles will be automatically deposited into the individual’s AAdvantage® account and will post within six (6) weeks after the three-month enrollment date."

So even if you signed up the first day of this thread (January 16), the 90-day period ends April 16, and then it's up to 6 more weeks to post to your account. That means it could be approximately June 1 or later before the miles post, depending on the enrollment date.
