I have searched in Flyertalk but cant seem to find a precise answer to the above questions.
I know requirements vary per country for Centurion Card ie 250,000 spend in the US.
Anyone shed any light on ICC Centurion. I have been a Platinum ICC cardholder for more than a yr and spend between 7,000 and 15,000 Euro per month on my card. I dont think the 250,000 requirement concerns the ICC card but would welcome any feedback!
Thanks for your help

you are correct. there is no 250k requirement for icc centurion. in fact, there is no requirement to even hold an existing amex card.
my private bank submitted the application on my behalf. essentially, amex centurion told me that, as i had NO prior amex history, they would require a bank guarantee of X, which my private bank gladly provided.
really, if your private bank is putting up the guarantee, there really is no reason for them to decline your application.
the icc (dollar and euro) concierge/travel services are provided by amex uk directly and not outsourced like us centurion (circles). they aren't the most useful but they are very friendly and respond very promptly to emails (usually 25-30 minutes MAX response time).

i believe that, if you already have another icc card (plat, etc), you can call up amex and ask them what the requirements are. the fee is 2800 usd or 2800 eur, depending on the base currency you choose.
this site says that icc centurion is by invite only. each icc card (green, gold, or plat) has its own requirements and i suspect you need to be a member of plat before you can be considered for centurion.
unless...
you have your private bank (if it is an icc partner) submit your centurion application on your behalf. these partners have a lot of 'pull' with amex, most usually ensuring that an application is approved. this route usually means no consideration for minimum spend or, in fact, anything...

lol, yes, that is correct! :-) however, if you have access to a private bank, most likely 2800 usd or 2800 eur isnt really a huge problem. now, dont get me wrong, im not saying that anyone and everyone banking with a private bank would naturally want to spend that kind of money on the card.
the topic of the value for money of the card has been discussed so many times in various posts; its just a question of 'value for you' and your ability to make use of the services and benefits provided.

First I would like to apologize for the OP for hijacking his thread/topic. But rather than opening another thread for this question I'll ask it here..
Can an ICC card be used in the card transfer system?

you are correct. there is no 250k requirement for icc centurion
I just called AmEx Plat ICC. Cent new accounts was not open, but the customer rep at Plat said that Cent ICC is by invitation only and there is no set spending requirement. The requirements were a secret, but the rep revealed that the invitation is sent to the top 2% AmEx-members (high spenders.) I guess that could mean a LOT more than 250K...

Thanks for the input with regards to my question concerning the ICC Centurion product.
When I applied for the PLAT charge card last year even though I applied myself AMEX did ask for a reference from my Bank which as it turns out is also a private bank ;-)
however I am wondering if there is any particular threshold that has to be reached before an invitation is forthcoming.

sorry i cant be of more assistance. this is just one way on how icc differs from us centurion. with 250k in 12-month spend and pay, along with 5k and 2.5k per year, getting us centurion isnt too difficult.
but, 2% is a number that is meant to be ambiguous on purpose. i do suspect that the top 2% is a lot more than just 250k.
did amex ask for a reference or did they ask for a bank guarantee?
if you are looking to move to the icc centurion product, i would suggest two things: a. call up plat/cent and advise that you would like to move up and that they have already taken a reference from your private bank (is it an icc partner?) and ask what else may be required.
obviously, b. is to get your private bank to co-ordinate with amex, if it is an icc partner. your banker will send you the apps, return it to him/her and they will forward to amex uk on your behalf with their signatures and approval.

hi ava rice 13
My bank (relationship manager) which is an ICC partner just sent back a bank reference not a guarantee.
They answered I think six or so questions one of which was:
do you recommend the applicant for an unsecured amount of 50,000 for the platinum card
They completed this and stamped it and sent it off
A few days later the cards arrived

Yes. I also asked an AmEx Plat customer rep about the Cent card a few months ago, and the rep said that the spending requirement was 300.000 USD. It didn't sound like she knew what she was talking about though. I hereby encourage everyone to call them and ask, and see what we can find out ;)

Has anyone here had any experience with transferring a IDC Centurion card to a UK Centurion Account?
I've done it UK Cent to IDC - I had to complete all the forms and get approved again though. At the time of approval I was told that I could move back to UK Cent within 12 months and no forms to complete - after that period it's a new application. As they are both UK managed I think there's a good chance especially if you have a good spending pattern - they are separate teams so expect to be passed around.

Thanks for the quick reply stickskier, I really wanted to know the position the other way round. I have a uk plat highish spend circa £75k, but have been offered a idc cent. Was wondering whether or not I could transfer this to uk cent after I recieve the card.
Have you found the idc cent to have the same level of service as your uk cent?

I can only think they are not offering the UK Cent due to high numbers of card holders compared to the IDC. In terms of service - I've found them marginally better with the team being smaller and quite often getting the same person on the phone and them knowing more about previous questions/issues I may have had.
Wouldn't like to say yes you will get the UK Cent from an IDC version but I would imagine you'll have a higher chance of obtaining it.
Question, are you normally using the card for GBP transactions? If so be careful as all transactions are converted to $ amount and have a 2.5% forex fee - please correct this anyone if I'm wrong! I only changed with a move to the US 2 years ago as the Global Transfer doesn't include moving TO the US Cent - still annoys me as I miss out on Airline status and purchase protection....get's me thinking why I spend $2800 a year now....? Maybe wait for the 100K bonus MR to hit in April then consider what to do.

How did you get offered an IDC Cent when you have a UK Plat?
I have spent about 180.000 USD on my IDC Plat in the last year, and I have not been offered IDC Cent. Should I expect something in the mail soon?

I'd be tempted to call as I've typically only spent around the $100K mark annually on my Cent.

It's they way they (American Express Services Europe) do "invite" people for the IDC/IEC Centurion : by sending an application form they "pre-approved" your request to join.
You should get the card soon (say, within a few weeks) if you pass the final check. In some cases, they could request a bank guarantee before issuing the card, depending on your home country. Because Amex Services Europe (unlike Amex US for residents) doesn't have access to scoring agencies in all countries.

If I apply for the IDC,should I give them my U.S AMEX account number for reference? Does it help?
Well my private bank (family) does not have a relationship with AMEX so no go for the centurion. Anything that I'm missing?...
It stated in the T&C that it will use a credit check for approval and I don't have a U.K credit history, only the U.S credit history so will they run all my 3 bureaus here?

AMEX ICC Cent currently only confers status on Virgin Atl-- no Delta, USAirways or Continental status as in the U.S. card market.

This is what I did. I opened up a private banking account with a bank that has a relationship with American Express. They told me to put either $2 million in my account for 3 months or $10 million for 2 weeks, and then I can apply for the ICC Cent through them.
I end up putting up $2M for 3 months. And then my bank took my application and forwarded to American Express. It took only one day for Amex to approve the card. I guess this is another way to get the invitation.

Hi
I opened an account at HSBC isle of man (offshore), they require a min of 45000 USD for an advance account.
I asked them if I can get an amex with them and they say YES.. they have a partnership with them. I am not located in UK or even in europe.. I live in Uruguay, some times is very difficult for south american people to open accounts abroad, but with them was smoothly.
I got my Plat card on march 2010, or mach 2011 a Plat representative call me to check how was all going with my card, and I asked him if I could get a centurion, he say me let me check it.. after 10 minutes he say that I would receive the centurion application on my email.
After 2 weeks I get my centurion by email... and I have on my account at HSBC really few money.....
The only requirement at ICC (as i was told) to get the centurion is to spend 250k in a year, and have any of the other cards for at least 1 year.
To get GREEN, GOLD or PLAT just open an account with HSBC and done..
They offer the GREEN one for free to hsbc customers.

Same bank as Cyberaver. I did not have ICC Amex before, but long history with Amex US.
Anybody have a recommendation for another bank offshore which is open to US citizens and has a relationship with/offers the ICC AMEX card?
If you call Amex UK, ask them to transfer you to ICC, they can tell you which institutions they have relationships with.(Including some US ones.)

From what I gathered ICC Cards approved mainly on the strength of the banking relationship you have with a partner bank, which is probably why they are basically "deferred debit cards" and you can do a global transfer from an ICC card to an Amex card issued in a country.
I believe you can get a ICC Centurion Card issued outright but the approval would be based on your banking relationship.
There are banks in the USA that are ICC partners (HSBC, Citibank International, and Bank Hapoalim to name a few) The requirements main requirement is that you are not a US resident.

True. My private bank said, to successfully apply for the ICC Cent, I need to put USD$2M for 3 months in my account. Which I did, and then it only took Amex 1 day to approve the application.
What's more interesting now is that I don't need to worry about how to pay the ICC Cent bill. My bank has arrangement with Amex so that Amex will deduct the amount due each month from my private bank account. Yes, I did put in my account number on the application.
