Thanks. When writing to the indicated e-mail address, what do you have to tell them in addition to your application for the offer and mention of the promotion code? That is, do they need my full name, address, preferences...? Or should I write to them after registering for GoldPoints in the usual way?

GOLD GP has benfits that other do not have ie 2for1 and 4for2
as far as upgrades are concerned it does not look very good and you might get a slightly better room but not a higher category
as the Gold level is the highest you can use this argument at the reception and you can get a buiness room
howevere there are still some hotels that would be much more generous and give you a suite - which is quite rare
e.g. poland, SA are very good for upgrades

I didn't see when this (gold) is good through
I'm gold from 2008 stays; I am not sure I can requalify in 2009.
Would this promo help me basically by staying five times this year and keeping my gold for another year?

comes with the Silver and Gold Elite baggage tags-
When I recently had a bag gone missing, I had to discover that the IAPA insurance provided with this deal is not a missing / lost / delayed baggage insurance at all.
All they will do for you is to help you trace the missing / lost baggage.
When i logged-in with the customer id provided, it showed all insurance option valid till 2049...
Of course one can have all other insurance options activated for an additional annual fee.

Hi,
Is it just me or some of the hotels don't even make that rate available. I have checked all weekends for next 52 weeks on 2 of the properties I would like to use and there is not a single weekend where this offer is available.
The T&C states:
Offer subject to availability and valid at participating locations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa except at Radisson® Edwardian Hotels.
So is there a possibility that a normal Radisson or Park Plaza hotel has decided not to participate?

Yes, it seems that certain hotels do not participate.
Which hotels were you looking at?
Also, Regent Hotels do not offer this afaik.

Ah, the joy of Flyertalk. Had been considering joining GP+ for some time, but usually just credit stays to my QFF account for a nice 1,000 miles per stay.
Then I saw this post and literally within two hours I've joined, called the service centre, been 'promoted' to silver status and have re-booked seven upcoming stays – all on weekends, so I've saved decent amount of cash, and may now reap some further benefits with status.
Thanks entirely to Flyertalk and the good folk who inhabit the site. Cheers to you all!
ps. Stupidly, I've posted this on the wrong post – it's meant to be on the one about Gold in 5 stays – but the sentiment is the same, as is the joy I feel ;)

On 1st of March 2009 the system has auto reset the status.
The system does NOT look at status match, promotions or any other manual status upgrades. All it counts are the stays required for status.
1. If you were matched or promoted to GoldElite you are now SilverElite.
2. If you were matched or promoted to SilverElite you are now NOElite.
3. If you were matched or promoted to NOElite you still are NOElite.
So, basically anyone affected will have to call and have them correct it manually.

I have been told that if you qualify for Elite status, you get the benefit for the remainder of the current year and the entire next year (until February). .So if you .qualified in December of 2008, then you would be elite (and should have received an elite card in December, January at the latest) for all of 2008 and 2009. .You not recieve another card until next February..
That’s new for the European group as elite status used to be based on when they joined and now it matches what the airline programs do.

I was downgraded to silver... Honnestly, I don't really care, as the advantage of gold were minor for me, except the daily free item for the laundry I enjoyed in Europe.
Regarding the points bonus as Gold, I don't care either, as I really found ratio of points accumulation/award to be very rude. I managed to spend 9 days award in Stockolm, Sweden, and it was with a special promotion. I can tell you, however, I spend lot of nights at radisson properties.
I prefer to concentrate on HHonors and SPG.

I'll be checking into the Radisson in Glasgow on Friday and I was promoted to Gold late last week.
Will my change of status automatically update on my hotel records just as it has online? And also, does anyone know if it will make the slightest bit of difference to my stay (other than a few extra points when I check out)?
I'll be making use of the 2-4-1 bookings in a month or two (once I figure out how it works) but just wondered if it makes a difference in the meantime?

When I was Gold the only time I got an upgrade was when I used points for a stay. To be honest the best benefit of being Gold is the 2-4-1 and the 4-4-2 offers.

Is this still the case?
So, if I were to be status-matched to Gold today, 12th may 2009, then I would be Gold thru till Feb 2011, irrespective of stays during this period?

Not so - I got silver in Feb (using this orange offer) my status is valid Feb 2010. The code I used was SWSL06.
Had to email them for the welcome package, got it today - together with a 5k voucher that can be used when dining at a Radisson restaurant (ie you get 10% off + 5k points)

Never received one despite them claiming two were posted to me. Eventually complained to a director and was bumped up to Gold. As a gesture of faith I have moved a few more stays over to them from IHG but I'm still waiting on a gold welcome mailing.
This is the one area that really lets them down IMO as I always find the hotels and staff superior to other corporate chains.
Would be lovely if someone could post the contents of the silver and gold packs so I know what I'm missing out on.

You're not missing out on much, you get the card and a couple of luggage tags, that's all. Now with gold elite you are also supposed to get a partner card but I have never received it despite asking a couple of times.

Yeah just a cheeky punt to moving me up to Gold to restore some faith in their brand. Shamed them with the speed of back office systems displayed by the Priority Club mob.
Thanks also to KiwiRob for letting me know what I'm not really missing.
Fortunately my shiny bright yellow Flyertalk luggage tags arrived yesterday so they'll be adorning my bags from now on.
I'm enjoying my recent switch to Radisson properties instead of slumming it in Holiday Inns. Glad I moved across, shame the points don't rack up as quickly and upgrades are non-existent.
I'll keep checking my post for the welcome pack though.

Because I find the price, quality and service to be superior across the brands to be better than the equivalent hotels in the IHG chain.
There's always some sort of trade-off and I'm happy to accept a lower point per night earning than IHG as those points are just sitting there waiting for a decent enough hotel to pop up on Pointbreaks.
I have only ever had one upgrade in IHG properties, always some pathetic excuse so I guess I'm not missing out too much in comparison.
I'm happy to maintain my stays, any additional points would just be the icing on the cake
Hope that helps clarify?

It all depends on the property, I'm getting upgrades 100% of the time SAS Gardermoen, heck they even give the the exact same room nearly every time except tonight, I'm also being upgraded in Hamburg most of the time in Hamburg and Copenhagen, with a bit og luck I'll also get an upgrade at the Radisson in Baku, I'm really looking forward to seeing what this property is like, they only have 40 rooms all suits (all approx 500 sq ft) with 2 presidential suits.

AFAIK there isn't a gold promo. Not too sure if it would make sense for a company to give a pass straight to their top tier.
The silver promo will give you access to gold in 5 or 7 stays depending on which route you take. Depending on your travel pattern you could do this in a week or two.

Well done you. I didn't say it didn't exist, I merely said I wasn't aware of one given the previous posts only mentioned two silver promotions and relevant codes to mention for fast tracking.
Now, if you had posted the code mentioned on the page instead of the link that would be a little more beneficial to the others.
It still beats me why a company would cheapen their loyalty programme by giving out passes to the top tier for holding a mobile phone contract with a third party when the majority of their gold cardholders would have booked and paid for 35 nights.

Where's the incentive? At least with the silver promo you have to commit to five or seven stays to achieve gold (not that it's massively worth it). That would guarantee money in the bank and fulfil the greed factor. I can only assume that they get a massive kickback from Orange for each member signed up.

I just tried to use this for the first time. Phoned the member service centre and asked for a stay in London in 2 weeks to be extended and they said that all of the London hotels had withdrawn "availability of the offer" which they stated was normally due to the fact that they were busy or full.
Interestingly there seems to be plenty of availability on the "free" nights if you are paying!
I understand that commercially they want to make as much money as they can, but I do think it is inappropriate to advertise something as a member benefit when it is near impossible to find/use!
I wonder if you can combine the 72 hour guaranteed availability with the 4 for 2! ;)

You'll be waiting an age for it. Sixteen weeks of being fobbed off for my silver card and I managed an upgrade to gold. It still took two more complaints and special delivery for me to get my gold pack delivered.

One of the published benefits is to have the best available room in the category booked.
I stayed in Manchester on Friday and didn't get a great room despite being booked into a Deluxe city view room. As my work travel agent booked this on my behalf I didn't realise the room category I was booked into.
I received a fifth floor (out of 14) room with a pretty crap view. Last time I stayed here I was given a 14th floor room with an amazing view (and was only Silver at the time).
Is there any cause for comeback (would have mentioned it to the hotel at the time if I had known)??

Did you receive the email customer service satisfaction survey? I had a similar experience in the Grafton in London when I was given the smallest room on the first floor (when the fire exit map of the floor came in handy!). I made a complaint through the survey. My next stay was upgraded to a larger room.
To be honest I really don't see any benefit to GoldElite status. I have tried to use my benefits e.g. 4 for 2 or 2 for 1 on my rare trips back to the UK but am given excuse after excuse as to why they are not valid or not available. I have never really felt that it makes any difference what so ever.
One customer service agent insinuated that the only real benefit I had was bonus points!
I think it is time to switch my hotel provider!

I received the email and had a pleasant surprise when I received a call from the front of office manager and a promise to add high floor to my notes for future stays.
Like you, I don't hold much faith in the programme but respect the value that it adds to my BA account. I like the hotels too much to restrict my travel to the IHG hotels so I'll stay a few more nights ;)
