I just "reserved" 3 nights (9/19-9/21) at the Marriott Renaissance (downtown Munich) on Priceline (name price) for $100 per + fees. (It may be possible to get it for less.) This hotel sells for over $450 per during Octoberfest. You will not find a hotel in Munich for less than $200/night during this time.

You are lucky. I never got a good hotel through Priceline before, during or after Oktoberfest.
BTW, the Marriott Renaissance is not in the city ... it's in the Northern part. But I believe there is a U-Bahn (Metro) nearby.... I could be wrong, maybe there is another Marriott Renaissance in Munich. The hotel is OK, service is friendly ... the Italian restaurant at the hotel wasn't great.

That's a great rate at that time. The Munich Ren is an average type property. No air-con; not sure if you need it at the end of Sept.
The U-bahn is but 3 minutes walk from hotel.
If you are plat or gold, might get upgrade even you book it through priceline (subject to avail, of course).

With this deal involving Marriott and Priceline, there's not really much at all to worry about. Many posters here have individually had hundreds, if not thousands of Priceline stays at various hotels, including Marriotts, with very few significant problems.

No need to worry:
-On the Priceline reservation is also the reservation number from the hotel ... it's easy to check, if the reservation is valid.
-next, I have stayed in the Renaissance (on Priceline) and the nearby Marriott for $100 more or less several times. Never had a problem.

BTW, the Marriott Renaissance is not in the city ... it's in the Northern part. But I believe there is a U-Bahn (Metro) nearby.... I could be wrong, maybe there is another Marriott Renaissance in Munich. This is correct, the Ren is just north of the main part of the Schwabing district - no matter what hyperbole the Marriott website uses, this location is NOT in what tourists and other travelers would normally think of as the the city center. AFAIK there is no other Ren in Munich.
The Renaissance and the (FS) Marriott are about a block and a half apart from each other. The reason that they are so close to each other is that the Ren was originally a Ramada Renaissance - the Marriott was built before the merger of RR into the Marriott family.
Both hotels are served by the U6 line (Nordfriedhof station) - the station is a long block from the Ren, and another block and a half further from the Marriott.
As long as you understand that the Oktoberfest area is NOT within walking distance, it's just a short ride away and should be fine.

Great Deal !!!!
Getting to the "Wiesn" will take approx. 20min by U-Bahn, just use U6 to "Odeonsplatz" and hop on U5 to "Theresienwiese".
Regarding the hotel itself, it is true that the rooms are average and the "suites" do have a strange room layout but it is absolutely ok and the staff is nice. Also the new restaurant is not that bad.
Seeing such a PL deal reminds me of that PL Marriott Marquis deal a few years ago where one could catch new years eve for 110$.

Getting to the "Wiesn" will take approx. 20min by U-Bahn, just use U6 to "Odeonsplatz" and hop on U5 to "Theresienwiese".No need to change lines, stay on the U6 to Goetheplatz and walk a couple of blocks. Much better crowd-wise than trying to squeeze into the U4/U5, and also much less crowded O'fest entrance.
