Hey,
So I signed up for a free Club Gold account and it gives you a CDP for the Gold Family Discount Program. It's supposed to waive the $25 per day surcharge but I've found that the surcharge is still on the reservation I just made.
Do they just remove it at the counter? Anybody else had any luck/problems with this?

You need to make sure you entered it in your discount/CDP box online with the proper code. Or atleast have it selected as "GOLD FAMILY DISCOUNT PROGRAM", then it should be automatically be waived online.

I did that, and I'm logged into my Gold account, but it's still no-go, the surcharge is rolled into the quote. I'll probably just fire them an e-mail.
EDIT: I did a dummy reservation for SEA and lo and behold, no surcharge. Seems the benefits only apply in the US

Ahh yes, i didnt see where you were located. I should have mentioned that this offer was only valid on US rentals.
Sorry for not giving out that info earlier.

Will you PM me the code too?
It's 1826991.
It's on FW right now and it's a Hertz-sanctioned code, so no use in me being all James Bond-like about it

I would still argue that they waive the age fee in Canada as there are no disclaimers upon signup that it's US only, just that you need the family discount applied on the booking. I have printed a copy of that screen to bring with me just in case.

Could we please switch positions? You can have the lower price at Hertz and I will be the one who is under 25. :D

thanks.

I found this code on FW but much more information on Hertz over here at FT. Anyway, I signed up for Hertz Gold using the "Gold Family" link and did not have any trouble. The underage fee was indeed waived which saved quite a bit of money.
Ugh, I feel like an idiot. I signed up for this and it appeared to have worked, however, I just checked my Amex bill and noticed a $60 charge for Hertz Gold. Rechecking the link, I noticed that it was for 21-24 (I'm 25), so I think they nailed me for that.
I definitely remember seeing that the fee would be waived when I signed up for it and accepted the terms. So, any input on if Hertz is going to waive the fee if I call? And if they won't, will they just let me cancel and refund my money?

Just call them up and tell them that it said the fee would be waived. If they give you a hard time then tell them what company you are with, that your company has a Hertz CDP, and you were told the membership would be free. If they still ask questions tell them that you kept looking for an area to put in access code "BAPGOLD" but didn't see it. They should end the conversation if you give them "BAPGOLD".
