about half the time when i get back in my vehicle and turn on my xm radio, i get the circular blurb as to all the wonderful things on the NEW XM SIRIUS. anyone else have this problem?
anyone figure out how to fix this problem.
in addition to the connection problem, the stations i listen to now have disk jockeys with diarrhea of the mouth. how do i get rid of these people?
i could buy up all the stock in the company(only take a few thousand dollars these days), and fire the jerks. sirius is still loosing tons of money. certainly firing a couple hundred of these clowns will not hurt the bottom line.

I just canceled my subscription to XM.

I'm an XM subscriber and I'm not happy, either. They dropped my favorite station (Fine Tunings) and like you say, the Sirius DJ's talk too much. If I wanted to listen to DJ's ramble on I've got FM stations for that :)
Their response: Basically "but now you can listen to Howard Stern"
Annual subscription comes due in May -- probably won't renew.

XM had originality and diversity. Sirius is simply terrestrial radio ported to satellite. The operators have the creativity of a house plant.

+1 ^ I'm cancelling, as well.

It appears that Sirius-XM is desperate to hang on to subscribers. Folks who are cancelling XM should be prepared to get their arm twisted hard to renew for 6 months or a year at half-price, as well as the $399 lifetime option. I tried to put my subscription on hold until the start of baseball season and was offered many different permutations of offers. I ended up taking a 6-month deal. It took the overseas call center rep about 10 minutes to walk me through all of the possibilities I could have instead of a temporary hold.
My XM favorite was the Fred channel. First Wave is talkier and plays about the same music as Fred, so I'm OK with that change.
FWIW, I would not consider the lifetime subscription, as I'm not convinced the company's lifespan will be long enough to recoup my investment.

The dissolution of Fred was the final straw for me. In addition to corny jocks, First Wave focuses on a very narrow playlist of material that sneaked into conventional top 40 back in the day. What's worse, this is not the only XM channel that has suffered from Mel Karmazin's terrestrial transformation.
I'm going back to web stations streaming through my phone.
Sirius deleted the XM channels I valued most - Lucy and The System - and the quality of some of the mid-tier ones has been significantly impaired (DJarrhea, no B-side songs, excessive narrowing of playlists, etc). So far I haven't seen an improvement in any aspect. Not one single thing.
Sirius took a great system and completely screwed it up. They fully deserve Chapter 7 and I hope they get it soon.
To hell with Howard Stern too.

Area is not System, Area plays 40 songs in a circle all the time, listening for 24 hours and you heard it all
XM DJs on the system(worldspace Djs really) were great, didn't talk much and played some good music. Area.....is terrible.

For those who want to delve into the minutiae of the changes to their favorite XM channel or its replacement, there is a message board full of discussion at http://xmfan.com.
There are some folks at that board suffering deep, psychic wounds over the loss of their favorite channels and who relieve their pain by posting significant research on the playlists. There are also folks there like me for whom the service is still better than their local terrestrial options. It's tough living in a market where half of the stations broadcast in a language I don't speak and the others are programmed by a couple of large radio conglomerates.
