anybody have 800 usa contact cs number to skype
they blocked all of my accounts while traveling overseas leaving me stranded and their cs offers an answer in 3-7 business days!!!
Meanwhile I have to pay hotel calling because ATT etc dont have easy or cheap access in this 3rd world country!!!!
Thanks f... skype
I think that I have heard of this issue before from others, anyone can help?
If you're not in the USA then a toll-free number won't do you much good.
I don't have a phone number for them, but it is a mostly free service, so you get the level of support that you are paying for.
Good luck!

Have you tried creating a new account? I dont know how or why they blocked the account but it should be easy enough to bypass by creating a new account. I know its a PITA but it should get you access for the time being.

What country are you in? There are other options to make cheap or even free phone calls.

Skype isn't the only provider providing VoIP calling.
There are plenty of pay-as-you-go VOIP providers offering service you can set up with a free softphone client. Rates are about 1-2¢/min for calling to the US.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. It might not take that long. I think that's their standard form letter.
Last time I email them for restoring my prematurely expired credit. Skype CS sent me 1st email me back in a couple of hours. But it was (sort of) a billing/account balance issue. It took 4 emails and 4 days for me to see my restored credit.

It seems you still have internet access.
I'd heard certain countries/areas blocked Skype (could've been a rumor, I don't know).
Another wild guess. Could it also be possible your hotel was blocked certain ports hence you couldn't get Skype to work? Have you double checked with the hotel?
You didn't say what country you are in right now. But it might be easier to go for the calling card route (or sim) before your skypeout issues are resolved. I am sure the local calling cards (or sim) will be much cheaper than the hotel calling rates. I guess it's too late to suggest you Magic Jack (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travel-technology/748758-magicjack.html) for the moment being. :(
I can't find Skype 800 CS number either. The only number I found was the Google free 411 for US businesses: (800)466-4411. I read this blog (http://forum.skype.com/lofiversion/index.php/t40559.html) that one user was blocked due to billing issues. Billing issues might take more than 1 email and 3-4 days to get resolved though. Here's another thread (http://forum.skype.com/lofiversion/index.php/t77631.html) on account blocked problems (Error 9407: calling from a known high-fraud location).
Good luck!

If you have internet access and a phone with free incoming calls, try Jajah.com
I've been using them for a year or two, very good rates and good quality.
You log onto the site, enter the number you want to call. Their system calls you (so it counts as an incoming call) and calls the other number and connects the two.

Oh, no pls dont mention magic jack!!! lol
Another experience in frustration, never could get it to work from tel line, but seriously it was ok however connection and quality not always the best. It was stolen from me in the Bruxells train station Midi (lots of crime in that station and very few police, they mostly stay in the office taking reports from all the victims I digress) not really that sad to see it go.
Its not hotel issue, switched to local unsecured wireless still blocked.
Thanks for sugessions of other options, calling america not working either, but I guess u have to be domestic for that service.
I dont have telephone, any competitors to Skype?

Is it possible that Skype is blocked in that particular country? Unlikely, but I thought I'd raise it as a possibility.

maybe but it worked fine for 2 weeks and others here use it.
oh, I got a response from skype today but it has nothing at all to do with the questions I asked. Its about when funds get posted to your account. ugh. Laurent sent it, however I doubt that is cs real name.
Lesson is to never count upon 1 or even 2 methods of making calls better to have like... 5 methods with internet tel systems a distant 4 or 5th.

frank_10b, personally, I think Skype service and its CS has gone down the drain since eBay bought it. If I send a query to CS, I never get a reply that fits my question. It's a very similar problem to what I used to get with eBay. I ditched both eBay and PayPal as a result and I'm planning on ditching Skype as well.

Well, I have no experience with Magic Jack. If you decide to give it another try, our fellow FTer PTravel should be able to give you more specific "instructions" on how to make it work. I remember he speaks highly of it from reading the Magic Jack thread.

Folks had mentioned quite a few alternative VOIPs.
If you happen to be a home subscriber of Vonage/Sunrocket/Packet8/something-similar, you can take the router with you while on the road: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travel-technology/861065-taking-your-voip-router-overseas.html
Voipbuster, internetcalls, Voipstunt...etc, they all belong to the same mother company based in Europe (? I think). I'd tried Voipbuster, Voipstunt but liked Skype better. They might be good as your emergency backups in the future.

Sounds like a billing issue. It probably will take at least another 48-72 hours before the credit becomes available. Good luck!

I have been very happy with them. In particular, I often use their callback feature. Costs $0.05 to setup (and each 30 minutes).
I don't think they got it working on a platform other than the PeeCee.
Found them when I became unhappy with Skype and their charges.
