American Express Membership Rewards - Transferring my husband's AMR points to my SW RR account?

I am trying to "buy" Southwest Rapid Rewards credits in my Southwest account, in order to reach the minimum of 100 Rapid Rewards credits needed for a Companion Pass. I planned to buy some Rapid Rewards credits using American Express Membership Rewards Points from both my own AMEX account, and my husband's AMEX account (with his permission, of course.)

Based on things I had read here, I thought this would be pretty easy -- just do the transfer, first from one account and then the other, and give my Southwest Rapid Rewards account number as the account to receive the Rapid Rewards credits both times.

However, when I tried to do the first transfer, which was from my husband's account, I received the following error message:
Your request to link an account must be confirmed by your frequent traveler program. This will take up to 5 days for domestic travel partners and up to 2 weeks for international partners. Please move to wish list or remove it from order to continue.

So, basically, it wouldn't let me complete the transaction, saying that my Rapid Rewards Account must be "linked" somehow first.

I have a bunch of questions about this:
1) Now that I tried to do a transfer, does that mean that the process for linking the frequent flyer account has started? If I try again in 5 days, will it let me do the transfer?

2) Will I be able to transfer the points from my husband's account at all? (We have different last names.)

3) Will I be able to transfer points from both my account and my husband's account (that is, link two AMR accounts to one Southwest account)?

I'm also wondering if there is some better way to do this -- via phone, maybe?

Thanks for any help!
